I have hired a few cleaning personnel from thumbtack. But Delry so far has been the best. Three ladies came and move through my house cleaning everything. They moved chairs and bedside tables in order to make sure that they thoroughly clean behind. I was even able to add cleaning of the stove at the very last minute. This company is very accommodating and I would certainly recommend them for those that are looking for a clean and thorough job to be done. They do charge a little more than the rest but it's totally worth it. And as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

A bit pricey with what we're used to coming from Dallas, but even though the movers were about an hour & a half late, they did keep me updated on the expected arrival time. They were very fast & willing to do anything I asked of them. They actually managed to store a 16' rental truck worth of belongings into a very specified area in my garage. They handled all of my stuff as if it were their own. They even greeted me with a handshake. That's rare now days. One of the guys was the owners son. He looked small, but he could actually lift more weight than the other guy who was bigger. I digress, they are fast, efficient, very courteous, & knowledgeable. Hire these guys, you won't be disappointed.

I was contacted immediately and the work was completed quickly. Due to a last minute trip up north I had no time to move some items before they came. The guys were great and went the extra mile by moving the items before cleaning and then returning them. I am very pleased and will use them again.

They did a great job! We are very pleased with the services provided by R&A. They are responsive, reliable and very professional. We hired them at the last minute to move a mirrored dining table and chairs from WPB to Boca. They took good care of our furniture. We will hire them again in the future.

Best part was speed and price. I needed to hire movers last minute after my new company wanted me to start a week early(Boston to NYC). I intended on renting a truck and moving myself. But had yet to pack everything. They were able to book my move right away including boxing and wrapping! Knowing the trouble it saved me, I would have never intended to do the move on my own. A large concern was my new 65" TV. They wrapped it better than I would/could have. I would definitely use them if I ever have to move again.

Simon and crew did a great job. They were fast and efficient. In previous moving experiences, furniture arrived scratched, broken and/or dinged up. Major league movers took every precaution to ensure all of our furniture arrived In the same condition they picked it up. Major League Movers took the stress out of a long distance move. They were very accommodating, even stopping at three different locations to pick-up all our belongings. 10/10, would recommend.

Lance was FANTASTIC. I needed a queen mattress, boxspring, bedhead, foot board, and slats moved from my place to my sisters across town. Lance and his helper wrapped my mattress and boxspring in plastic mattress covers (included in the move) and they had the project completed within an hour. I live on the second floor (apartment( and the bed was going to my sisters on her second floor of her home. $130 for everything. No time limit, no extras, it was great not having to be hit with hidden charges like movers normally do. I even asked for him to take apart the bed at my sisters (that we were relaxing with my queen) and he added $10 on for that! Amazing. Definitely hiring him again for all jobs I can.

Crawford moving services was able to move us at last minute and get us out of a pinch after the first moving company we hired ended up being an employee trying to scam and the second moving company we hired trying to get more money from us and asking for extra payment the night before they were scheduled to move us. I would recommend Crawford moving company to anyone wanting top notch service. Thank you David.

Sales rep of Remax van lines, offered me a very attractive deal over the phone. He was also very attentive and responsive. He never tried to push me to hire them or never asked for upfront. So, I booked them for my move. It was an office move. I have a small office of 11 employees and recently I moved my office at a different place. However, movers arrived on time with necessary equipment and did not waste any time to begin their work. They took a close look of the stuffs and carefully started to wrap and box everything. They took little time complete the packing and then carefully loaded everything in the truck and moved to the new place. I was very happy to see everything in great condition. There was nothing missing or damaged or broken. They also stored everything at the new place and again completed the task before the allotted time. When the bill came, I was surprised to see that they charged less than the original quote!! It was really an amazing performance by these fine movers. I am very happy with their service and I do wish them a very bright and successful future.

Great service. Very reliable and took great care with our pickup and delivery. Had a problem with receiving items to move when the item arrival was delayed over a week. Denali willingly waited for the delivery to arrive and then promptly came the day they were received and moved them. Denali is a company you can trust and should consider using.

Having performed many reference checks on the job, last question first. Would you hire Damane/Carwin Enterprises again? Absolutely yes! Why is that? For starters, while it could’ve been done on any afternoon, Monday-Friday, Saturday is always my first choice. No problem for Damane; accommodated me just fine. So, we planned to do the job around 1:00 p.m., and I was to receive a quick confirmation call around noon. I figure from his physical location (about 12-15 miles away) he would then depart and would get to my place close just before. But when he calls, he is actually 5-10 minutes away! So, he gets to my place early, I show him where the wheels & tires are, he works quite efficiently, and next thing you know………he’s done. Took a matter of minutes; note even long enough to mention. I paid him his fee. Threw a little extra on top for making it all a ‘quick and painless’ job, as the say goes. Now to be sure, the job could not have been done any better. Granted, it was all planned well, he still had to execute well. He did. In parting, we shook hands, I thanked him, let him know I’d call him if and when any more junk needed to be disposed of – or needed to utilize any other of his services, and thought to myself: “I am happy camper; now, off to enjoy the rest of my Saturday……a little earlier than I thought I would. Sweet!” Thanks again, Damane, and thank you Thumbtack. Because last week at this time I had no idea how the junk would be moved. Now? I’m relieved. You guys at Thumbtack are fast. And I ain’t complainin’.

We were skeptical about using an online company. Booked last minute so all quotes were out of our price range. Found Hirerated and prices were half of what others quoted us. We were surprisingly satisfied with the service. The guys worked quickly and carefully. Getting my family of 5 unloaded and into our new home safe and sound. Thanks John for all your help.

Extremely happy with the outcome of my move. Moving out of a three story town home with stairs is no easy task. But the guys at student movers took care of it no problem! Joe was really accommodating and great to talk with on the phone. Really glad I chose this company and that they sent me the strong, hard working guys they did. Highly recommend.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
