This company did a great job cutting our hedge and trimming our palm tree. They also did a great job cleaning up. The only negative I could say was the total was slightly more than the estimate due to the palm needing more trimming than expected.

I had chosen Nick for a tree removal and stump grinding project at my home as he gave me a great quote, was very responsive, professional and seemed like a great all round guy. After all the details of the job were finalized I had all the utility lines tracked and marked in my yard as Nick requested it to be done before he could start the project. We agreed that once they were all tracked we'd lock in a date to start the project. After tracking was complete, Nick began slacking on returning messages and calls and when he would respond I was not once given a specific date or time he'd start, I was always told "at the end of the week" or "in the next couple of days". I completely understand that things come up unexpectedly and weather plays a huge role in outside jobs like this, BUT, I don't understand how someone running a business can leave their customers in the dark with details as important as a date and time to do the project and not return calls or messages OR do it promptly. The last time I spoke with Nick was 6 days ago and I was told it would be done Thursday or Friday....it is now the next Monday and I still haven't heard a word from Nick. Very poor customer service and communication. I expected more from Nick and his company especially after the great reviews he has and the running around to have utility lines tracked for him. Poor effort.

I requested a wall pressure cleaning to prepare for washing. Oberlan did the job quickly and thoroughly. When he came in I saw that his company also does cleaning services and landscape work I also requested a palm tree removal, which he did on the same day. I will work with him again.

The work we got of these guys was amazing. We had a tree that could've crushed our waterfall on our pool and they somehow managed to redirect it and cut it up without damaging a thing. The amount of work put into this one tree would've taken others a full day!

Gary came and gave us a fair estimate; he was friendly, down to earth and professional all at the same time. We agreed on the price and he was there early the next morning to cut down the trees and remove the stumps. You'd never know by looking that there were ever trees there!!! We will use his services in the future as we need more trees removed, and will definitely recommend his services to anyone who needs landscaping, etc. We couldn't be happier!!!

I needed some tree work after the hurricane. I was not in Florida. I sent a message describing what needed to be done. They went around and looked at it all and sent me a proposal with what they would do and the price. I had a followup question, which was answered. I said go ahead. They did the work, sent me photos and I paid for the job. The whoie process worked well.

Fantastic from start to finish. They were hired for junk removal, not lawn service. From the quick response to give the quote, the constant communication, and then showing up early (wasn’t expected), I was already very impressed. Ezekiel (sp?) showed up as promised, even early, with a very positive attitude and eagerness to work. He knocked the job out quickly! I absolutely would hire them again.

They did an absolutely fantastic job. They took the time to listen to our needs, update the project accordingly, and had no issues going back and forth with us on the different options. We were landscape newbies and they really helped us understand what would look best and work in our environment. Our main goal was to create more privacy - they added a few trees, cleaned up the entire yard (we haven't added sod yet), added mulch, a barrier, and relocated plants to create a more full & aesthetically pleasing look. They are super friendly and work quickly! Will use them again for other projects for sure! :)

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
