FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an idea of the look and feel of their event by viewing their favorite pictures. Once I create an estimate and have a deposit, I proceed to the style boards to give the bride a better visual of how her flowers will look together. As the wedding day approaches I like to meet with the bride to firm the details of the event. The week of the event, I double check all venues for delivery and set up instructions as well any last minute details. My favorite part is the preview where the bride arrives to see her flower creations for the first time. Attention to detail allows me to be prepared the day of the wedding for a smooth set up. Once on site, many times I'll find it needs that extra touch somewhere ....that's the surprise I like to leave for the bride.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an AIFD (American Institute of Floral Designers) member. Membership is only granted to individuals who have past the highest design testing standards in the industry. Actually, I am the past president of this most prestigious organization. I am a member of PFCI and AAF. I've been an industry trainer for over 20 years and have given floral seminars all over the world.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was an art/business major in college. The beauty of flowers called to me when I graduated college. The elements and principles of design are the same as what I learned in art school. The difference is that fresh flowers offer the challenge of being an organic product. There are never two flowers alike, even if they are the same variety....so daily I look at unique blossoms and unique arrangements.
