Cat Sitting: Gretchen came for a home visit prior to my departure to review feeding and care instructions for 3 cats of all different ages and picked up a key. I was away for 15 days, Gretchen sent photos of the cats throughout the two weeks. I came home to 3 happy, healthy well fed and cared for cats, not to mention a clean cat box. I will definitely use her services again. I highly recommend A Paw Above.

We had planned on taking a family trip in early February and we were concerned on who would be able to take care of our doberman Tyson. I ventured into thumbtack based on a recommendation from a co-worker. Within minutes of submitting my request I got an offer from Mrs.Wanda. I had multiple questions which Mrs.Wanda responded too almost immediately. We proceeded to arrange a meet and greet to see how our dog would interact with Mrs.Wanda. Tyson and Wanda bonded immediately, I will never forget the energy she projected as we entered her house. Something about her felt just right and it was then when I realized we found our dog sitter. We must of changed the drop off and pick up time multiole times and never did Mrs.Wanda complain, 'Its OK baby, just call me and I'll be available!', talk about no stress for us!!! In addition to pet sitting Wanda provided regular updates of our pet status which let us completely enjoy our family vacation. We most definitely recommend Miss Wanda to anyone looking for a kind, reliable, responsible and loving pet sitter.  Thank you Mrs.Wanda for treatingTyson like your own pet!!

I used Michelle of Smooch Your Pooch when I went on a 10 day vacation. From the very start Michelle was extremely professional, bringing forms and detailing the needs of my kitties. She encouraged me to check in whenever I felt like it to see how my pets were and she sent pics to my phone while I was away. She spent time with my cats, not just feeding them and leaving, but interacting with them. She even got my shy cat to come out and say hi. I highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs.

In describing Beths dog walking and pet sitting service, the only word I can use to describe it is spectacular. She has been taking care of my 2 shy and skittish schnauzers for over a year and they absolutely adore her. Prior to finding Mary Puppins Pet Nanny Service I had gone through several dog walkers with no success, as my dogs do not take to most people. As soon as they met Beth they fell in love. She has treated them as her own, with tremendous love and care and has gone way above dog walking and dog sitting. She has been a godsend and i would recommend her highly as do my dogs.

Highly recommended for pet sitting. I used their services for almost a week while out of town. Mitch stayed in my home but you couldn't tell. No cleanup required. Our "Bella" was well cared for and even posed for pictures that Mitch sent us. 5 star service.

Kimberly was great with our 11 week-old kitten. She sat her for 3 days and came to our house twice every day. She sent us pictures and updates and made us feel at ease that our kitten had a playmate and obviously the necessities of food and water while we were away. And for the 3-day total, she was $25 cheaper than her competition. I would recommend!

About

I sit and care for both dogs and cats. Dogs usually are happy to see me right off the bat, so I have excellent rapport with dogs. I often look forward to walking a dog or multiple dogs. I am also very patient with cats knowing that it takes longer to gain a cat's trust. I've been both a dog and cat owner and still care for 4 of my own cats. All the pet owner needs to do is inform me of the pet's needs and will do my best to provide those needs if the pet owner is away for a period of time.

About

I have an open schedule. I have a Cadillac SRX for transportation, and space for a trip to beach, park, or vet. I am also open for meet and greet, and to provide plenty of great references and let you know all about me. I bathe, feed, give medicine, overnight, brush, and give love to your pets. I am active and healthy, so I can run, walk, Rollerblade, and bike with your pets for exercise and well-being. I have Skype and other technical gadgets, so you can see your baby and their agenda. I can take fun pictures to send via text, email, and even Facebook. As a hairstylist that has watched my clients pets, I have great referrals that have known for at least four to five years.

My good work

About

I became a dog sitter because I personally love animals and I have one myself. I want to help people out who doesn't have someone to pet sit their dogs, instead of leaving them in the kennel all day while their owners are gone. I've been dedicated and very persistent to working with animals. I won't let you down!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
