- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask them what they want out of music lessons. Then break those up into manageable and tangible goals that stress why they enjoy music. Music is such a vast area of artistic expression and above all else I seek to pinpoint the skills i can impart on a student that will give them the tools to teach them self what they want to learn in the future. To make music into a playground.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Music is a positive feedback loop. The more time and effort you put into it the more fun it becomes and the more time you want to put into it. Since i started rolling down this hill a little over a decade ago i just haven’t stopped. As for teaching it’s what i’m both best at and enjoy most. Nothing feels better than when a student finally “gets it” and you see their mind expand into new spaces.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have taught from young children just starting the saxophone or piano to adults who have years of experience.
