Introduction: For 25 yrs, I've had the honor to offer mental health counseling to many individuals, couples and families. I see the body as multidimensional: Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and so my counseling is holistic, not just focused on symptoms. Assessment includes an extensive intake interview during which, I look at background, medical history, lifestyle, nutrition, gait, posture, motivation to introduce changes, and then I might focus on restrictive patterns. My professional services are also based on a systemic approach that follows the principle that the whole is more than the sum of its component parts. When I treat an individual, a couple or a family, I see them within their context; I'm focused on health not on illness and I believe that diagnoses might become self-fulfilling prophesies. Unless strictly necessary (like when medication is required to save a life), I avoid diagnosis... I see patient's processes as work in progress. I focus on strengths, not on weaknesses. I discuss about solutions, not focus on the problems. Since I believe we have an intelligent inner healer that, if supported, will maintain the necessary balance to grant us health, once the evaluation is done, we sit with the patient to build a treatment plan that will support the inner healer. We determine patient's emotional needs, and then we agree on a time frame for sessions, and a fees (I use a sliding scale), according to the recommended number of sessions. I attract people who have an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love for learning. People who want to step out of the "pop-a-pill culture", and have decided to take responsibility for their own health by leading healthier lifestyles. Since my vision is multidimensional, I see the body as not only physical, but also emotional, mental and spiritual, and believe that a healing arts professional needs to address all aspects of the human being to be able to provide the needed support for healing. I also educate my client on relevant matters always based on the belief that each person finds identity, meaning, and purpose in life through community networking, connecting to nature, and to spiritual values such as compassion and peace. I love seeing people take the challenge of exploring themselves, to participate in their journeys, to support them in the process of changing perspectives. In other words, my joy is to see people grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally in front of my eyes.
