We hired Jose for videography for our wedding on 4/24/15. Everything was wonderful! He and the other videographer were on time, looked professional and were extremely kind. Of all my vendors, Jose was by far the easiest to get in touch with and was very reassuring that he knew exactly what we were looking for, etc. When my venue started dropping the ball on a variety of things, Jose was very kind, patient and professional! I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone! I cannot wait to see all of the video and aerial shots from the drone he used! Boogietek is absolutely wonderful and affordable! Do not shy away from the affordable pricing! He's the real deal! I'll post a follow-up review once we have the finished product! SO EXCITED! THANK YOU JOSE!!!!! xoxoxo

I threw a surprise birthday roast for my girlfriend. After communicating with several videographers, I decided to use Bob. First, I would like to say he exceeded my expectations. This was my first time arranging an event like this, and I needed everything to go as planned. Bob was very easy to communicate with by answering any questions in a timely manner. He also worked with my budget. I wasn't looking for someone super cheap because that brings up red flags, but I was looking for quality at a reasonable price. He arrived to my event before I showed up, and was already set up and ready to video when I arrived. I was running photos on a projector and wanted better quality, and he eagerly advised me on how to achieve this. Again, he exceeded my expectations with his willingness to accommodate. My boyfriend paid him early before event was over, and advised Bob he could leave. He didn't realize I wanted my girlfriend to be video'd opening her gifts. I saw Bob packing up, and rushed over to him regarding continuing to video event. He apologized and immediately started to re setup equipment. Later my boyfriend told me it was his mistake. Lastly, I received my 3 dvd's in 2-3 days as promised. The quality, and Bob capturing great moments at the event was superb! I highly recommend him, and will employ him for future events.

It was truly a pleasure working with Matt. We hired him to record our volleyball tournament last month for a special project. From our initial conversation, we noticed right away how personable he was. We did not meet with Matt prior to the event but we knew we were going to be comfortable working with him. He was very responsive to all our inquiries prior to the event through phone calls and emails. He was also flexible with his time. We originally requested his services for 5 hours but turned out we needed him for 10 hours and he gladly accepted several days prior to the event. While we asked for recordings of the game play, we also asked for some creative shots and the videos turned out better than we could ask for. His eye for interesting angles made the videos special. During the tournament, he was always available and prepared to record our games. He was easy to work with and had a great attitude. In addition to HD videos, we asked for some 4K footage and he was able to deliver with a handheld stabilizer camera at no extra cost. Out of more than twenty videographers we've asked for price quotes, Be Noticed Productions was the most cost effective with regard to time, equipment and quality. Please note we only asked for raw footage so we have no experience with their editing process. I recommend Be Noticed Productions for any recording needs you may have! If we get another chance, we will hire Matt once again.

If you’re looking for a videographer who cares as much, if not more, about your project than you do, then Dom is your guy. The way he overdelivers and focuses on quality will make him one of the only videographers you’ll ever want to work with.

Very friendly and professional videographer helped shoot a two-day conference. Very knowledgeable, helpful and flexible. He worked with our overseas creative leads in advance to prepare for the brief and went the extra mile to make sure everything was backed up properly and the footage was exactly what we needed. Thanks!

Tim and I are so grateful for having found prime provision, it's team of experts in video film, and photography to encapsulate our Wedding. We had moved to Florida only 6 months prior to our wedding date, and had to hit Google search for all things wedding. Once we saw Prime Provision's website, their films spoke for themselves; the quality and creativity of the craft we were looking for. We had finally found our videographers. I proceeded to contact them and they responded promptly. They took the time to get to know us, and our story. Which was appreciated immensely, and helped us decided that their workmanship, authenticity, and patience was a fit for us. We are beyond amazed by the special moments captured by Denis and his team which we didn't get to see in the moment, but can relive through our vivid videos. I would describe Prime Provision in the following words: creative, skilled, patient, authentic, resilient, flexible, friendly and an all around top notch film-makers. We have and will continue to recommend them to others seeking awesomeness.

Experience with La Bella was amazing. He captured our day perfectly. Each time I watch our video, I go right back to that day. They are very flexible, collaborative and fun to work with. I also loved that they were behind the scenes and discrete and not super visible so the focus was always on the ceremony and our party. Wish we lived closer so I could hire again!

Jason is a very talented photographer and videographer. He has an eye for the perfect angle to capture any moment or skill. As a makeup artist, I recognize creative talent when I see it. He captured some of my makeup work in action that showed just how unique of an artist I am and how I stand out from the many (like airbrushing and contouring). He filmed the photoshoot of our model and another photographer at work. He selected just the right music and altered the speed of the video to complemented the beat, tune, and climax of the song. At the climax (the model pulled her fingers through her hair) I literally got goosebumps and felt moved and motivated. If you're looking for a photographer or videographer to capture raw feelings or your talent, rather than just the typical visual.... Look no more, Jason is your guy! -Jessica George esthetician and makeup artist

I do private labeling and manufacturing of products. I wanted some product videos made to put on Youtube and promote my eBay and Amazon products. Very videographers do product videography and fewer do it well. VidFame was recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately we are clear across the country from each other. They were very helpful in figuring a way to get the job done. I shipped them my products and some marketing materials by Fedex and they were working on my project the very next day. They were awesome in communicating with me what was going on and sharing some creative ideas of their own. My youtube videos are getting thousands of hits and my products are outselling my competition so I'm pleased.

Our non-profit organization worked with Faithful Dog Digital to record the speakers at our annual conference. We have worked with many videographers over the years, and none was as professional, responsive, and committed to quality as Jeff and his team. They did great working within our tight budget and deadlines, and they made a complicated process as stress-free as possible. I look forward to working with them again on future projects!

    About

I am a photographer, writer and videographer with more than 20 years of experience in content production. I have a strong art, journalism, and documentary photography background. I can provide content of any type—text, still photos, audio, and video—for editorial and commercial needs for broadcast, print or online for your existing website, or I will build one for you. What clients love about my work is my ability to capture the personality and humanity of the people I photograph or video, fast turnaround, and good design sense.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
