Fantastic service! D&D waste removal quoted me a great price for the trimming of 2 trees in my backyard (one near a power line) but that didn't take away from their professionalism and great customer service. They were able to accommodate the fact I wouldn't be home and took care of the project very quickly while I was at work. The work site was left pristine with no trash and debris left over. I would highly recommend them.

100% sure I have the best "lawn guy" ever! Bought a house last summer and everything was a mess and overgrown. The backyard had a huge low area, unacceptable by the pool, in just a few days everything was taken care of, yard leveled and sodded all the landscaping was whipped into shape and this new house felt more like home. Yard is always well maintained and looks fabulous! Loved everything so much that I'm having a little backyard escape area done in the next few weeks. Prices are very reasonable, service is reliable and professional going above and beyond expectations of just a lawn service.

We had about 5 or 6 companies contact us regarding our sod installation and after reading all the reviews, we decided on Dayners landscaping Inc. First off, I'm not one to write reviews but Oberlan and his company did such a FLAWLESS job installing our sod that I would be remiss not to recommend his company to anyone seeking out landscaping work. Oberlan's knowledge and overall work performance were the best we've had when it comes to landscaping. The first day he came out,he explained the process (killing the weeds and grass before removal, checking the sprinkler system, fertilization, and exactly what types of grass to use) in one weeks time,my backyard went from looking dead and worn to pristine. He instantly took an eyesore and turned it into eye candy. He even took the time to re-sod some dead spots in the front yard with extra pieces without us even asking. He went above and beyond. On top of the fantastic work he did on our yard, the price was extremely fair and above all, he is just a nice, trustworthy guy. Especially in S. Florida,my biggest concern going into this process was the unknown and all of the companies with zero reviews or that wanted to rush through the process. Oberlan alleviated all of our concerns, and much like finding a great, trustworthy mechanic, we will be using Dayners Landscaping Inc for ALL of our future yard work. I wish i could post before and after pictures. It doesn't even look like the same house. If you are on the fence trying to decide on a company, call Oberlan. It's just that simple.

Ben was able to make a recommendation based upon my backyard condition which was basically all dirt and a lot of trees. He determine that sods wouldn't be suitable and recommend egg rocks and stepping stones. My backyard is 100% better and beautiful.

Gary and his worker did an outstanding job with our trees in the backyard. They cut and trimmed 20+ year old Oak Tree that has been left untouched by previous owners. Also, they trimmed tall palm tree as well as other palm trees. Their work was neat and professional. My neighbor called them over to do her trees, and said they did amazing job! I highly recommend Gary if you need a honest, reputable and professional person.

He was awesome. He came out right away and gave a fair estimate. Then he came out shortly after and cut some trees, bushes, vines and took away all the debris. They spent a good 3-4 hours working on my yard. My backyard looks amazing. I will definitely use him again and I will definitely refer him out to friends.

I just purchased a new home in Lake Worth and the backyard was over run by nature. Al and his team did an amazing job cleaning up my backyard. They arrived on time, got the job done in record time, and we're very reasonable. I will be using him to redesign the backyard and maintain it. I would recommend this company to all.

Very good and honest company. They have done regular lawn maintenance as well as landscaping design and installation. Their prices are very good and the quality of the work is excellent. We have had multiple landscapers for our homes over the last 15+ years and Ricardo and his crew are the best we have had.

They just redid our entire backyard with new sod and mulch. It turned out amazing. They also planted new plants around our outside AC unit and gave us choices of what plants to use. They are very professional, timely and a great company to work with.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
