We are trying to bring up our son's ACT score on a rather compressed schedule. Mr. Balgobin's style is probably best suited to those who are able to start the process a little sooner than we did, but he has risen to the challenge and our son's practice scores are steadily showing improvement with each passing session. For anyone who is prepared to invest in a sufficient number of classes to achieve the desired results, I believe they will find Mr. Balgobin to be reliable and see steady progress. Tutoring is a highly personal interaction and therefore "personality fit" and teaching style is everything. The 3-hour evaluation session that Mr. Balgobin holds for each prospective student, presents a good opportunity to find out if the fit will be the right one and set the expectations for the program that follows. Tutoring sessions are held at the library, in a private meeting room when available. Mr. Balgobin's focus tends to be reading and writing with an emphasis on test technique and pace/timing. He has brought along his son (an ace student in mathematics), to help with math sessions. I'm writing this review partway through the tutoring program, and the ultimate proof will be in the eventual ACT results, but based on experience to date I am able to give a positive review. If you are searching for a tutor, take the time to check out his services.

Elaine has helped me tremendously in my search and preparation for a job. She is a wonderful conversationalist, easy to talk to, and she seems to have a lot of experience on how to write the perfect resume, cover letter and how to decipher a job posting and meet the criteria of a job requisition. She comes extremely well-prepared and has lots of material to offer to become the best job applicant possible. She also asks great questions to make you think thoroughly about what you want, what you are good at and what motivates you. I have left every session with Elaine with increased motivation and inspiration, probably from her positive, optimistic and enthusiastic way of looking at jobs, the future, and life in general. Thank you so much, Elaine!

Melinda has been my writing tutor for two years now after jumping around from tutor to tutor my entire eight years in college. Melinda has made me a better writer in all aspects. I am a history major, and am constantly writing research papers. Knowing I have Melinda to guide me and help edit, drastically decreases my anxiety when writing. She is exceptional at making herself available when the going gets extra tough. Overall Melinda is the best writing tutor I've ever had.

I am a published author, educator. and public speaker. My editing skills are excellent, and can be applied to many different forms of writing. My expertise is in crafting communications that are clear, succinct, highly articulate and very diplomatically written. I an apply these skills to a number of areas, including" 1 job applications 2 important letters 3 materials for personal and professional promotion 4 public speeches 5 college and other essays 5 personal or professional letters 6 eulogies 7 tributes ... and more I can also coach you for important meetings and interviews, as well as use my public speaking skills in a variety of ways that might be helpful to you. Whatever you need or want to want to write or say, I can help you do so in a way that will help you achieve your desired outcome..

I analyze political, economic and financial events to predict upcoming stock market action. You can access my most current MKT letters by goggling Aubie Baltin. My primary business is to write a biweekly economic, financial and political letter.

Recently retired from industry, I'm looking to grow a part time business where my experience in technical writing, proposal writing and warranty writing can help clients with their business needs. What I can provide to a prospective client surpasses the services of other writers in length and breadth of experience, and flexibility of schedule.

I am a Florida based professional with a high academic background (two master's and a bachelor degree in engineering). Spanish is my native language, and I reside in the United States, so translation comes natural for me, and it is something I have been doing for years now as a business. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

    • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
    • Strong writing skills.
    • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
    • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
    • Expertise in your target area.
    • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

    • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
    • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
    • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
