Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

Randy came and we discussed what the problem was with the popcorn finish and what I needed done paying particular attention to those 2 areas. His only concern was being able to match the existing texture which I knew might not be possible but could be close. They would drape and tape the entire area leaving slits to the hallway and front door since the plastic would be up for 2 days. I hired them for that fix and added on painting. The first day they were 4 hours late. They called several times to let me know during that time. The reason? The Sherwin Williams store didnot have the supplies they needed which turned out to be plastic, tape, I am assuming Sheetrock mud and texture medium? I get that stuff at Lowes but he said it took them 3 stores to find it hence being late. They did have a brand new Kolbalt compressor and hose and hopper. That's Lowes brand of tool.just saying. They get here unload and Kaz gets started. Without specific details he taped only half the room, the side he was shooting popcorn on. Covered a group of boxes and a few pieces of furniture I had outside that area. It wasn't enough. I had popcorn stuff and over spray outside the area. They came back day 2. Said would be here at 8 it was after 9. The tape hadn't held so Kaz had to rehang it and shot more stuff. He had to wait for Randy to bring him more so he could hang the rest of the plastic and then spray the paint. I asked why he wasn't fixing the 2 areas I had hired them to fix. He said it wasn't fixable. Needless to say when Randy got there I confronted him and asked why he quoted a job he couldn't do. He said he had told me he couldn't quarantee matching texture and I brought the conversation back to the issues he was hired to fix. He said he had told me he couldn't fix them which clearly he hadn't because that was the whole reason I had hired him. When I asked why the entire room hadn't been taped off he said that was only for painting which again was not what he said. I told him to stop and he wasn't going to paint and he said fine they would leave which they picked up their stuff and left.did they clear out the plastic? Nope. Did they clean all the over spray on the floor and off my furniture which was clearly visible? Absolutely not. I spent 3 hours doing it myself. While I didn't want to pay them anymore than the deposit I gave them for materials I gave them an additional 98 dollars for what they had done just so I could live with myself. I spent more than that total $200 in time cleaning up after them. They had given my kitchen contractor their card but when he came back the next day and saw things weren't fixed and completed he tore it up. Worst "professional" I have ever dealt with.beware if you hire them.
