I believed Mr. Carrazana and Aquashot Property Services to be the most knowledgeable and experienced company to install my hot tub. My electrical panel was too full accept another double breaker for the necessary 240V required by the hot tub. Other electricians suggested that a separate and additional electric box be installed just for the hot tub. However, Mr. Carrazana noticed the fact that I had a 100 amp breaker powering my AC, but since the AC unit had been recently upgraded, it now only required 60 amps. Therefore he was able to replace the big 100 amp breaker, taking up (4) slots, and install a new 50 amp breaker for the hot tub and a 60 amp breaker for the AC. The hot tub I was installing was a pre-owned one, and the original wiring was not long enough, nor of the proper gauge, to meet the required electrical codes. So, I agreed that he and his assistant should replace the hot tub wiring with the proper gauge and length, so that the 50 amp GFI breaker could be installed high enough on the wall, and far enough away from the hot tub to meet code. All, this they did while it was raining, and hot tub was being installed outside by the pool, but they never complained about it. They even used a paver on the floor to bolt down the hot tub cable by the GFI breaker, so as to keep it down, but not put holes in the pool deck, and they checked with me first, before doing so. Finally, after everything was finished they cleaned up both the pool and garage areas, then went over with me the changes to the electric panel in the garage and the testing of the GFI breaker at the hot tub. They then tested the hot tub pumps, heating and lights. Everything worked perfectly. Mr. Carrazana and his knowledgeable assistant were both courteous, and highly skilled electricians, that continued work to get the job done as soon as possible. I am very pleased with all aspects of the job they did for me, installing my hot tub and satisfied with the price that beat most others. Also, I now feel more safe and secure knowing that my previously over powered AC and the hot tub now meets all electrical codes. Sincerely, Gregory Harris

Beyond words what Jesse (JSR) and his crew are capable of doing. While living in N Fort Myers we purchased our new retirement home in Auburndale and came in contact with JSR. Every scheduled appointment was handle on time. Extreme respect for our budget and stayed within our budget parameters. Our trust and confidence in Jesse and his crew was almost immediate therefore allowing us the blessing of having them handle everything within the "new" house without us having to commute back n forth. The crew completely repainted the 1700sq ' interior, installed complete crown molding throughout as well as installing an entire flooring of a beautiful wood laminate. All within our arranged time frame and within the given budget. What easily could have been a bit of a stressful situation was seamless and our subsequent move and relocation went off without a hitch. Jesse and his team will be returning shortly to work on our kitchen remodel project l and bathroom remodel. Can't wait !! 👍

MMM Flooring is the best - I would definitely recommend (and use again) for any flooring or tile project (big or small). I hired Marcos Alves based on a recommendation from another customer. He was quick to respond to my request for a bid and his price was incredibly competitive - while still maintaining the highest level of quality. Because I was still residing in TX during the install, it was important I hired someone who was responsive & someone I could trust. Marcos Alves is both. He responded very quickly to all of my texts, phone calls and emails. I entrusted him with the keys to my home and he insured it was always secure at the end of the day. He was willing to go out of his way to pick up extra materials that were needed and maintain the receipts for me to pay later. Thus was so helpful as I was not residing in Naples, FL yet. His payment schedule is reasonable and fair. He stands behind his work - which is impeccable. I was so impressed with the quality of his work I hired him to remodel my entire master bathroom which included a shower and bathtub area. I hired him to do the remodel without getting his bid or getting a second estimate because I was that confident in the price he would quote and the quality of the work he would do- and I was not disappointed with either! He was able to handle the plumbing needs as well as install a light above the shower. He also has great ideas & suggestions as to where to purchase various materials. I also needed beadboard be put in the bathrooms and again his skill at woodworking was amazing - he is so multi-talented. He completed the 2400 sq ft of wood like tile floor installation in schedule and to perfection. He even made sure the closets were trimmed out with quarter round to give everything a very finished look. Many of my neighbors stopped by during the 5 week project to see what I was going - and 3 were so impressed they hired him to remodel their bathrooms and install tile throughout their homes! If I could give a 10 star review to MMM Flooring I would - and I am a VERY picky customer who expects perfection. If you hire MMM Flooring you will not be disappointed.

I am a licensed realtor and a real estate investor that personally owns several homes that I have renovated, hired out work for, etc. I see more construction professionals than the average person and I can be very particular. With all of that said, Nestor has quickly set himself apart from so many others I've worked with in the past. His number 1 goal is clients satisfaction with the job. He is diligent in making sure that all work is done to the way in which you want it done before he leaves the job. My job was not an easy one for Nestor; it was a 3000+ sq ft house with 12 ft ceilings that needed all of the popcorn scraped, retextured and the entire house repainted along with some other basic carpentry and drywall work. I had hard deadlines as well as we were keeping our prior house as a rental and I already had tenants with a signed lease so there was no room for problems or delays. Nestor was organized with a detailed timeline, provided very detailed quotes, and was constantly in communication. A large job like this there are multiple trades in the mix and he interacted and worked with them with ease. I have already hired Nestor for 2 other jobs and referred him to a neighbor who is also very happy with him. Nestors prices are competitive with the other bids I got and frankly he is a bargain because of how easy it is to work with him. Not needing to babysit him and knowing that he was going to show up when he says sounds like it should be pretty basic stuff but trust me from experience that is not always the case in construction. I look forward to doing more business with Nestor in the future.

Daniel and team are top-notch pros. They display great professionalism and are just good and honest people. From the moment my wife and I met him, we felt very comfortable. He made us feel as though he'd treat our home like his own and that's exactly what happened. We hired Daniel and team to remove/install tile and lay underlayment/flooring. He really did want us to have everything the way we wanted and his trips back to our home to ensure all was to our liking is what really separates Fickey Flooring from others. If you want a contractor or handyman to do a decent job and leave, look elsewhere. If you want a company to work with you through different scenarios, to listen to your wants, to execute your wants, to execute your requests really well and to come back to make sure you're 100% satisfied, then hire Daniel at Fickey Flooring! All the little things are done extra right too! I've worked with a few contractors/handymen and Daniel was the first to really keep a clean workspace so you don't have to come home to sawdust everywhere. These are the types of things that separate Fickey Flooring. Also, their rating speaks for itself. Thank you, Daniel and team. We hope to keep in touch with you and for any future projects!

Mark replaced the carpet in (4) bedrooms. He had excellent communication. He came out and evaluated the job and made a reasonable offer. He came to perform the job on time, did excellent work, and cleaned up after the job. All the corners were tight and no sags in the carpet. I would highly recommend Mark Combee's carpet installation to anyone that needed his services.

Alex installed tile in our home and did an amazing job. He installed plank tile flooring in the main living areas of our home, back splash in the kitchen and remodeled our bathrooms with new tile flooring and tub/shower tiles. His work is meticulous and he pays great attention on his grout lines. He always showed up on time for the job and is very polite and always professional. We had originally only hired him to install the plank tile flooring but had him to the rest of the work once we saw how good he is. We will definitely hire Alex in the future and highly recommend him to others.

I feel very fortunate that I found George to correct the problem I found when I moved into my new home. There was a leak in a drain pipe inside the wall , which caused mold damage and extensive damage to the bathroom vanities and adjoining bedroom. George worked with me to recover almost all of the cost of the damage from my insurance company and made the repairs in a remarkable short time. He was very attentive to detail and took care of every part of the construction from mold removal to replacement of the vanities, plumbing, painting and tile replacement. He was a life saver.

Elvis is the real deal! Apremium General did a 1000 sq foot wood-look tile job for us recently and my wife and I couldn’t be happier. He responded to my needs in a timely manner when I posted my request on thumbtack, gave me an estimate over the app based on my needs and description of my home and situation, he was very close and accurate with the actual cost when he came out and assessed my home. I can’t say enough good things about the experience, Elvis and his crew take pride in their work, he cares about his customers in the form of the product he’s giving you and thoroughly explains any questions or concerns. When people walk in our home now the first thing they say to us is WOW NICE FLOORS! One of our friends who is in real estate saw our floor and said you have people out there charging almost double what you paid for such a good job. So if you want a five star experience by a company run by good competent people then choose Apremium General.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long does it take to install a hardwood floor?

Hardwood floor installation can take anywhere from a few days to more than two weeks, depending on demolition, wood type, the condition of your subfloor, total square footage of the project, and installation method. Demolition is necessary if you have existing flooring you want to replace with hardwood floors. New-construction homes do not require this step, as the subfloor is primed and ready for floor installation. During demolition, the flooring crew may find that your subfloor has damaged wood, uneven surfaces or other problems that must be addressed before the new wood can be laid down. Crews may charge on an hourly rate for subfloor repair, and the work can take a few hours to several days, depending on what’s hiding underneath your floor. The wood for your new floor generally arrives a few days before any work begins. This allows the wood to acclimate to the relative humidity in your house, which prevents it from shrinking or expanding after installation and causing gaps or buckling. The actual wood installation may take several days or more, depending on the size of your home and what type of custom cutting and designs are desired. If your flooring is not prefinished, the unfinished wood must then be sanded and stained in the home to treat and protect your new investment. Typically, stain takes a full day to dry, and multiple coats are applied. Baseboards and trim must also be installed. With all these variables at play, you can see why it’s important for a wood installation pro to provide an estimate only after seeing your home.

How much does it cost to install flooring?

On average, Thumbtack customers nationwide pay $5,500 for floor installation. The cost can range much lower or higher depending on the type of flooring you select (laminate is far less expensive than exotic hardwood), the square footage of the project, and other important variables like demolition and repair work needed. Here are some examples of average floor installation cost:

  • Basic floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • This can range up to $7 or $8 per square foot when tear-out and prep work is required.
  • Laminate floor and installation cost: $3-$8 per square foot.
    • Laminate is one of the most affordable materials and can start as low as $1.50 per square foot.
  • Wood floor installation cost: $3 per square foot (not including product).
    • $7 and up for hand-scraped oak planks and other specialized work.
  • Luxury vinyl tile installation: $3.50+ per square foot (not including tiles).
    • Cost includes prep work, underlayment, leveling and grouting.
  • Examples of additional floor installation costs:
    • Pouring concrete to level the under-flooring: $1,000-$1,500 for materials and labor.
    • Removing carpet: 35 cents or more per square foot.
    • Removing difficult ceramic or porcelain tile: about $2.25 per square foot.
      • Includes removal of the dura rock.
  • Floor repair: $75 minimum.

How much does it cost to install hardwood floors?

The cost of hardwood floors will depend primarily on the total square footage of flooring, the type of wood you select, the cost of labor in your region, and any preparation or repair work that needs to take place before installation. Selecting exotic woods, such as teak, will result in a higher cost for the project than a more affordable wood such as oak. The national average cost of hardwood floor installation is $5,750. Here are some examples of different woods and their average costs; actual costs will vary depending on the factors listed above.

  • Basic wood floor installation: $3 per square foot from a wood floor installation company.
    • The product cost for hand-scraped ¾-inch oak planks: $7 per square foot.
  • 620 square feet of maple floor:
    • Residential installation, total project cost: ~ $2,400 with five days of labor.
    • ¾-inch dark stained maple installed on top of new concrete in three rooms, a hallways, and a staircase.
      • Cost for total project: ~$3.87 per square foot.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
