We hired Stephanie for a four-day corporate event and wow, we couldn't have asked for a better photographer! She was very professional, fun to work with and made those she photographed feel at ease. We threw her a few curve balls throughout the event (asked her to work an hour later than originally requested) but she accepted without hesitation. We highly recommend Stephanie and can't wait to work with her again!

We hired Robert and his team for our wedding back in April. We had them do both the photography and videography. Team did a great job of arriving on time and worked for 8 hours until the latter part of the reception. Had two photographers and a videographer. Great wedding shots and felt like we had just enough for what we wanted given we did not want to spend the entire wedding taking photos. Was very good about setting up the photo to set the shot and directing us on where to stand and look. I think overall we ended up with about 300 final photos which was plenty because no one wants to sort through 800 photos. Video was great quality and all in 4K. Videographer had some fancy stabilization. We received a few minute highlight video and then all the raw footage. Overall would highly recommend, especially for the value.

After seeing the stunning photos Scott took during a joint graduation & engagement photo session, we knew we had to hire him for our wedding! We have had several other interactions with photographers (including a prior engagement session), and Scott has consistently been the most flexible, prompt and professional. In addition, the quality of photos he provides is simply amazing! Our wedding pictures turned out simply beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Highly recommend!

Working with Earl was really great! He was so professional and even came prepared with sketches of shot poses. I have worked with a lot of photographers and have never seen that (I was truly impressed!). He was a perfectionist and he wanted to make sure that we had several good shots to choose from. We ran into a little unexpected rain, but Earl was really flexible, again just wanting to make sure that we had the shots that we wanted. I would work with him again!

I live in Maryland and was not able to travel to Florida for my father's funeral so I hired Florida Footage to videotape the funeral. From start to finish true professionals and very trustworthy. Found their pricing to be on track with videographers in the area, but they didn't tack on extra costs for the additional services they provided to me. Was truly a pleasure doing business with them and I highly recommend them.

I would give Colleen 10 stars if this website didn't limit me to 5! I first got in touch with Colleen via Thumbtack when I was looking for a photographer to capture my engagement proposal in Venice, FL. My fiance and I live in West Virginia and were planning a vacation in Venice for our 3-year anniversary. I was planning a surprise proposal on the beach, but since I had never been to Venice before, I was a bit worried about how it would all unfold. Colleen contacted me promptly via thumbtack after I submitted my information. We spoke over the phone and she was incredibly willing to help make sure that my proposal was flawless! Because I could not visit the area to plan it out, she personally drove over an hour to the spot where I wanted to propose to scout everything out. I can't tell you how much I appreciated this personal touch -- other photographers I contacted did not offer this level of customer service. I couldn't have pulled off the perfect proposal without her help! On the evening of the proposal, Colleen was camped out discretely on the beach with plenty of time to spare. She helped plan the perfect setup to capture the moment when I proposed! We did an engagement photo shoot directly after the proposal as the sun was setting on the beach. To be honest, I typically hate being photographed for any length of time, but Colleen made everything totally fun, relaxed, and enjoyable! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect proposal and photo shoot. Colleen immediately went to work editing photos, and we had several photos available that evening to share with friends and family. All the other photos were available the next day. Absolutely loved her work! All in all, the greatest thing about this experience was the personal touch Colleen offered. She was genuinely excited to be a part of this moment, and it showed in both her work and her willingness to help me plan out the perfect proposal. For anyone out there who has tried to plan a proposal in an unknown location, it can be pretty stressful. Colleen helped minimize this stress and left us with some amazing photos in the process! I've gotten countless compliments on the photos and will forever be happy that we have such beautiful documentation of our engagement.

Very friendly, professional individual who took our thoughts, wants, and desires and made them work with the setting we had. Quick turn around with getting final product to us. Even drove completely out of his way to come and work with us. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fun experience with their hired photographer. 10/10!

Anyone who has dogs knows how hard it is to get them to cooperate! We decided we wanted our two golden retrievers to be part of our holiday card photos. What a chaotic mess the dogs were at first! Did that stop us from having an incredible experience? Nope! Professional photographer, very friendly, understanding, and talented! Y’all would be crazy not to hire Limboden Photography!

Heather is an amazing photographer that captured the silliness and craziness in our family. She was relaxed and allowed us to be ourselves and took as many photos as we needed to get the whole family and individuals. I would hire her again!

She is amazing she made my wife feel like a beautiful queen. On a day that is full of stress she took away the stress instead of adding to it like some photographers. As I go through the pictures you can see the love and joy that brought my wife and I to that beautiful day.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.
