How do I find someone to fix my sprinkler system?

You can find a sprinkler repair professional by conducting a little bit of online research. This gives you access to their ratings and customer reviews. Some customers will even submit photos of their sprinkler systems that were fixed by the pros. But before you hire a professional, contact them. Ask them questions about their expertise, tell them about your sprinkler problem and request free cost estimates.

How do I increase water pressure in my lawn sprinklers?

Figure out why your sprinkler has low water pressure and determine if you need to make any repairs. There could be an issue with the valve, a leak or the sprinkler heads may need cleaning. If the water pressure is low in your house as well (check your water pressure regulator), the problem may be with the municipal water supply.

Why won’t my sprinklers pop up?

Several problems can prevent sprinkler heads from popping up. For example, here are a few possible culprits:

  • The valve is partially closed.
  • There’s dirt, sand or debris between the sprinkler’s cap and riser.
  • There's low water pressure.
  • There are leaks in the water line.

Why is one sprinkler zone not working?

One sprinkler zone could be malfunctioning for several reasons, although the most obvious one — a closed valve — is often the culprit. Check to see if the main system valve is closed. It’s easy to forget to turn this back on after repairs. Other causes for failed sprinkler zones are electrical issues within the valve, timer, wiring or solenoid. A common reason is a bad connection that needs to be re-soldered.

After buying a new home built in 1956 we discovered that we had a very old, tired sprinkler system with many heads that needed to be replaced due to them leaking. Not being comfortable with replacing them myself, we found Bruce on Thumbtack ... and I'm really glad we did! He is extremely knowledgeable, hard working, professional and tidy. Did all of the work himself and fixed our system, found a leak we didn't know we had and then tuned it up so it works as good as new! All done at a very reasonable price. Bruce is a super nice guy and now is our go-to whenever we need our system worked on going forward. We highly recommend him to anyone needing a sprinkler repair.

He repaired two leaks of which I was aware and found and repaired four more unknown to me that he located. He changed seven heads that were not functioning properly and Informed me that my sprinkler system only could operate on certain watering days designated by the city, which my previous company had never mentioned (and which were different from the days they programmed). He worked hard and competently and I was satisfied with the amount he charged. I plan on using him again.

I hired Chris to get my old sprinkler system functioning after I purchased my house. He did a pretty good job repairing broken pipes and reconnecting my cut wires and I was happy. But within a month of use my aged solenoids started malfunctioning. Chris had warned me this was possible as they were forty years old. He gave me a quote to replace them and I agreed. He came just before Christmas when it was quite late in the day. He and his assistant worked into the dark though I told him he could come back to finish in the light. I paid him when he said he was done. The next day I tested the stations and most of them didn’t work. Also the wires were exposed above the ground and the dirt and grass they had dug up and replaced was very uneven. I called him and asked him to finish the job and get the system functioning. He told me he’d be by the next day. He didn’t show despite repeated texts and calls for over a week. He finally came back saying he was very sorry and if he were in my position he’d be furious. I told him I just wanted the system to work as at this point I’d spent over $1000 and nothing worked. They found the wiring had been not connected properly. He got the system working though I again had to relevel the dirt and the solenoid boxes myself after they left. Fast forward about three months and I noticed a puddle around one of the new solenoids, in an area where he had done all the pipe connections. I asked him to come by to repair the leak and another small one I found in an area that they had never worked on, and additionally to change the timer from winter to spring and summer programming. He did not reply at first but then after I called and texted again he told me he’d come the next day. This sequence of requests and promises and no shows repeated three or four times till I finally gave up. I am going to get some one else to do the work it’s too much trouble working with him.
