The Eclectic Wave

Introduction: I take great satisfaction out of seeing a student's progress. I feel that by teaching them music, I am adding to their enjoyment of life. Also, there has been a lot of research done that shows that by learning and performing music, the student's mind is enhanced. Research has shown that the study of music makes the human brain more powerful and increases its capacity to learn other subjects and increases its ability to cope with life's everyday problems. So through learning music, a student is getting more enjoyment out of life and his brain's capacity is upgraded. I think that's a lot of positive results and I am glad to to be an agent that helps to facilitate such positive results. I entertain. I try to fit my musical repertoire to the musical tastes of the group I am performing for. I punctuate my musical offerings with talk, humor, and topics of the day. I am an accomplished musician with an undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and a master's degree in music education from Kent State University. I have performed for the Sarasota Jazz Club and the Venice Jazz Society, performed as the "house band" for the Cleveland Browns Football Team, and taught music in public schools for about 20 years. My repertoire is wide, ranging from jazz and fusion to popular to and classical music. I have played for night clubs, Phillipe Park concerts, fashion shows, big band concerts, "Jazz at Two" concerts, restaurants, weddings, and bar mitzvahs. I sing and play alto sax, flute, and trombone. I love to see people learn music and I am willing to go out of my way to make sure they have a good learning experience.For example, I know that students get bored with dry musical exercises. I write out familiar songs to spur their interest and enthusiasm. I can also record background accompanyments on a CD so they feel that they are playing with a band. I also encourage them to listen to various artists playing their instrument, (on youtube) so they get a great idea of how the instrument is supposed to sound.
