Sherry did a wonderful job staging the home for us. She was very professional and at the same time warm and caring. Her color scheme for the house was perfect. The furniture she selected was just the right size and scale. Love it all and I know prospective buyers will too!

Rosa, the owner of Above and Beyond Solutions, and her staff are beyond professional and showed a genuine care for my home cleaning needs. They continue to exceed my expectations on every visit. After first contacting Rosa, my home needed a THOROUGH 'deep clean' after having renters in it for the past two years. Rosa showed up with her team and left the place looking immaculate, they were even able to remove the majority of the severe hard water/iron stains in the bathrooms (well water) - not an easy task. After that first visit I have now hired Rosa's company to clean my home on a weekly basis. Its's no easy feat as living on several acres, I have multiple dogs consistently tracking dirt into my home. Rosa's team gets the dirt out and the dust off impressively well. She maintains excellent communication with me and she, and her staff are impressively punctual. Her rates are beyond reasonable for the quality services she provides. I would and have recommend Rosa's company to some of my closest of friends and family members. If you're looking for a professional, trustworthy, detail oriented cleaning service - Above and Beyond Solutions is your solution!

We have hired Bobbie Brantley's services on several residences and have been very pleased with each project. We first went to her to re-do our dining room. She turned a small, uninteresting room into a showroom. Her creativity and eye for detail resulted in a dining room we never envisioned; and at a cost that was acceptable. Next, we asked her to update a condo we moved to on the beach. She successfully incorporated our existing furniture with a few newer pieces. The result was just the right amount of coastal infusion with our traditional furniture. In addition, she made some changes in the existing floor plan, which gave us much more room. We received many compliments on our condo. When we sold it, the changes Bobbie made to our floor plan and to our decor, along with her expert staging, resulted in a higher sales price than we had anticipated. We purchased an Arts and Crafts home in St. Petersburg. The house was in very poor condition. Bobbie helped us renovate it. More importantly, she changed and re-drafted the floor plan to fit our lifestyle. What we most appreciated was her knowledge of the period of the house. She made the changes we required, while at the same time, maintaining the integrity of the period of the house. Bobbie has an incredible eye for color, which was really handy in staying true to the period, yet providing our family with a home that fit our personalities. We highly recommend Bobbie Brantley for any interior project you might undertake. She has the knowledge and creativity required to successfully complete any project. She took the time to get to know our likes and dislikes; and she listened to what we said. She finished each phase at the time she stated and at the budget she gave us. Her knowledge of furniture, lighting, color, etc. have provided our family with several lovely homes. Should the need arise, we will most certainly hire her to work with us again.

Tonya is extremely creative, organized and professional. A joy to work with and she made my interior design vision for my home into a realty. She also did an amazing job organizing my closet and kitchen and cleaned up all the clutter to make my house much more manageable. I would highly recommend her over any of the big interior design firms as her fees are very fair and reasonable. Worth every dollar if not more :-)

Tammy is a creative problem solver and helped me immensely when I moved into a lovely log cabin. The house was lovely but our finishes were not so great. She helped me choose fabrics and add the finishing touches that made my home look amazing. I could not be happier and I recommend her highly for residential work.

The firm's two workers worked tirelessly after dark until their job was complete. They were very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. They started at 2:30 PM and worked until 6:30 PM with no breaks. I also paid them to dismantle old kitchen cabinets in the garage. And they didn't hesitate to do did this and hauled them away from our garage. This is above and beyond! The concerns we have are that I had to paint over their stucco job to match the house exterior wall color. I had to make 2 trips to acquire the paint. We also had to drive to Home Depot to buy the materials. If the firm discussed their estimate and job scope with me before starting work, I would have paid them to paint.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does it mean to stage a home?

Home staging is the real estate strategy of decorating your home to be as marketable as possible to your target demographic. Home staging is done by interior decorators and other design pros hired by the homeowner or realtor, prior to putting a house on the market. Think of it as setting the stage for potential buyers to fall more easily in love with their future homes — and to spend top dollar to get them. It’s likely to be worth the investment: The Real Estate Staging Association reports that staged homes spend 90 percent less time on the market than those that are not staged. Home stagers can also be hired even if you’re not going anywhere. Stagers can consult on new layouts for your current home, much like an interior decorator.

Home staging can take place while you still occupy the house you plan to sell, or when the home is vacant. For an occupied home, the home stager will clear out clutter, rearrange furniture, and bring in decor and furniture as needed to create the perfect environment. Usually an occupied home has far too much of the current owner’s personality stamped on it, which makes it hard for prospective buyers to envision themselves living there. A home stager should neutralize and beautify the space. In vacant homes, a home stager will bring in furniture and decor so that potential buyers don’t walk into an empty house, which can be equally hard to imagine living in as a cluttered, occupied home.

How much does it cost to stage a home for sale?

Nationally, the price for home staging ranges between $750 and $1,500. The price varies based on how many rooms in the house need staging, whether furniture and decor are needed or the stager can work with the client’s belongings, whether the home is occupied or vacant, and the sale price of the home. Occupied homes typically cost less to stage as they are already furnished, and can require less time and resources than staging an empty house. The main tasks when staging an occupied home are rearranging and decluttering. Staging an empty house can be more expensive as furniture and decor need to be trucked in, requiring transportation, physical labor and potential rental fees. Here are some examples of average home staging costs:

  • 2-hour consultation: $200, includes DIY tips and guidance.
  • 1- to 2-hour consultation and design session: $250, including written report.
    • Additional design consulting: $65 per hour.
  • 8 hours of staging an occupied home: $800.
    • Hands-on staging involving moving furniture, hanging and moving art, and decluttering.
  • Starting price for staging a vacant home could be $2,200.
  • A home stager may charge 1 percent of the home’s selling price.
