I have been tutoring for over 15 years. I have worked with two private firms along with operating my own tutoring business over that time. I graduated summa cum laude from The University of Pittsburgh, so I know what it takes to be academically successful. I have a BS in Chemistry, and I am certified in statistical quality control. I obtained a master in teaching from Waynesburg University.
My approach to tutoring includes instructions in various techniques to become a "good" student. I show the student practical ways to take more effective notes in class, how to prepare for class, and an effective approach to homework. I teach common sense and how to apply it. I have successfully turned around poor students to the point that they were offered college scholarships.
As a former army captain, I also provide mentoring when required. I specialize in algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, physics, general/organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. I have tutored students as young as 10 years old and older adult students while attending college. I have extensive SAT and ACT preparation experience, routinely raising SAT score a minimum of 100 points. Additionally, I can increase SAT and ACT scores so that students can attend the university of their choice. I normally provide tutoring at your home but can also make arrangements to meet at a local library or community center. My experience in industry as both a chemist and a quality engineer provides a direct link between education and employment.
My goal is to make your student successful.
