When we moved to our new condo it was infested with ants. Adam inspected our property inside and outside and determined that there were five different types of ant nests. He fully described the course of action he would pursue and literally guaranteed 100% success. Within two weeks of his application of the chemicals we were 'ant(s)' free. He also advised for us to call him in the event another application was required. It was not needed. I highly recommend Adam for his expertise and professionalism. Dr. Kaz Steward

Within the first five minutes.. same day emergency stellar service.. Fred saved me thousands of dollars because of his knowledge (ants freaking look exactly like termites sometimes) and the fact that he absolutely did not take advantage of my situation. I live on a lake and really thought l had termites .. wooden / metal french doors/ over 20 yr old house on a lake. Fred went above and beyond the help I needed and is returning for a very economical preventative solution in my attic which is long overdue. Within 24 hours my insane ant infestation is gone. Thank you Fred, you have a customer and referrals for life...

Steve was extremely prompt and friendly! We were having a pretty nasty ant issue and he went through the entire property showing us ways to prevent pest problems in general, which was above and beyond. He was no pressure, but we were so impressed we decided to set up routine service with him. We haven't seen an ant since! Thanks, Steve!

Showed up the next day, and quickly identified our pest. Sprayed everything and total cost for visit plus a year of pest control was very fair. Thanks! We still have some flying ants, so we may have to call to get some follow-up help, but the majority of them were wiped out and it's been a big relief.

I have been using Orkin for my house in Florida for nearly five tears. As I don't visit Florida very often, I rely on a regular efficient service. Especially if something new starts I would like to be contacted. I was referred to Adams and have been using them for a few months now. On a recent visit, I found the property to be in great shape with no ant nests popping up on my patio and bug free. I am very impressed by their thorough pest control and go above and beyond the normal pest control companies. I would give them. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had a very bad ant infestation in my home. I contacted Native Pest Management for their free inspection and opinion of what needed to be done. Their treatment protocol took into account my parrots and my dog, and made my home "pest free", in one visit! All the materials they used were "EcoFriendly", and applied in areas where it didn't disturb anyone's health...no smelly sprays. I've recommended them to my neighbors and they experienced the same careful consideration. If you are truly looking for a safe method of Pest Control...call Native, great value at a fair price.

We had bed bugs in our apartment and I was completely devastated and grossed out. When I called Unique Pest Services, they made me feel like everything was going to be okay. The very next day a punctual, polite and very professional man named Kurt showed up. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service I received. I normally do not do reviews but I could not pass this opportunity up to express my satisfaction.

I had roaches and ants (and we are NOT dirty people). I tried to get rid of them through the stuff that you buy at big box stores. Even the really expensive stuff that kind of worked didn't last very long. Frustrated, I called Soles exterminating. He was very up front about the process, very reasonably priced (yes, I shopped the competition), and thorough. Anyway, I don't have roaches anymore--not even in my carport shed! And the only ants that I see anymore are outside (even during the rainy season when ants used to come in my house like it was made of candy and the door was open). And, for those of us who find this type of info important, my dog has never once gotten sick after a visit from Soles. And, they even offer different payment options. I saved some money by paying for the year up-front. So, yeah, I STRONGLY recommend Soles Exterminating. They're fantastic!

Sean was super easy to get a hold of and arrived at the time of inspection as promised. He took his time and provided us with a thorough WDO inspection report. He even provided us pricing for regular pest control service right on the spot. I am happy to support small businesses and am happy that I went with him. Thanks, Sean!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
