Voice Lessons with Patricia Westley

Introduction: Welcome to my voice studio! I teach a healthy, foundational vocal technique based in bel canto method which can be applied to any and all genres of vocal music. I specialize in working with students ages 12 and up and enjoy working with a variety students, ranging from beginner to professional. Private lessons are personalized for each student relating to their experience and personal goals and needs. My voice students learn how to properly breathe, how to support, how to make a resonant sound, and how to use their whole bodies as their instrument. Most importantly, together we demystify the tenets of singing so you leave each lesson with a deeper understanding of how your instrument works. A strong vocal technique is paramount in furthering a singers musical life, and I focus on helping my students build that foundation—in an enjoyable and supportive environment. There's always a lot of laughter and happiness through the work. My students are continually making noticeable breakthroughs with their voices, which is the most rewarding part of teaching. Along with teaching, I keep an active performing schedule. It is important to see a technique in action. I believe in the technique that I teach and it has led me to perform professionally all over the world. I love the work of discovering and refining my students vocal potential and enabling them to feel confident in their abilities. Singing can bring so much joy, to both the singer and the listener. I am passionate about being a part of creating more beautiful music in the world. I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University where I studied classical voice (B.F.A in Vocal Performance) and the University of Oklahoma where I was an Opera Fellow and earned my degree in music (M.M.
