My fan for my air conditioning unit was not working properly, Leo came to my home within 1 hour, was extremely nice, he explained everything to me, he didn't try and talk me in to buying other parts as some contractors do.He fixed my airconditioner, came in my home, checked my main unit cleaned and replaced an item that I never knew what it did or was for... because of Leo he has given my airconditioner years more of life! Thank you so much!! I will recommend him in a HEARTBEAT!!! Nancy Vescio

Here is a panoramic view of the great room finished by 360. They also did our front room but not prepared to take pictures yet but transformed the look of the home. We will add more photos once we have everything put together. My husband and I are pleased with the outcome of the initial phase. The professionalism of Jeffrey and followup during the project was noticed ... we also had other projects with other contractors and 360 accommodated with our timeline, staggered the scope, and helped us stay within budget while conducting business with them. We are now and will be repeat customers and place another review upon completion of the final phase. We would recommend 360 to others.

Recently Paul transformed my old attic space into a beautiful master bedroom with an ensuite/bathroom which has a custom window built in! In addition, he added much needed storage space and a show stopping light fixture at the entrance! He is professional, knowledgeable and very creative. His skill level for plumbing, electrical and construction exceeds all expectations! I would highly recommend him for virtually any type of job for home or business. It is evident that he is a professional and takes pride in his work. You can definitely hire him with confidence! It's great to find someone who is so reliable and competent!!

Not sure how I missed writing a review for this amazing company! I would give 10 stars, out of 5, if I could. From the minute he showed up, he explained EXACTLY why I had been having the same issue (hired 3 other companies and NOT ONE took the time to HELP ME) This amazing man took the time to not only Fox my problem, but tell me WHY and what I can do to fix it. Unfortunately, the previous company, that installed the unit initially, did a crappy job and now I’m stuck with this mess. He even guided me through the legality of trying to sort through my rights with that. I’ll end up replacing my unit and I will ONLY use this company for any of my HVAC needs. He’s not only honest and fair, he’s a GOOD PERSON and that is hard to find these days.

One of the most honest contractors/handymen I have ever dealt with. Was very transparent over his charges and was a pleasure to deal with. The work involved matching travertine tiles to create two wide long mid-steps down to family room which originally had an 8 inch drop down which was too high. Also removed old laundry room sink and replaced with a new one. Repaired some pool enclosure doors and the front door which was cracked at the bottom.

Robert is a true Air Conditioning Angel who came to our rescue in less than 30 minutes! His price was incredibly reasonable and he explained what happened and proceeded to fix the AC in no time. We were so appreciative of him as it was the day before hurricane Irma and other contractors weren't even returning our calls. No need to look anywhere else for AC Repair .. Robert is the MAN!

Steve and his company do incomparable work ,it was efficient beyond my best expectations, clean , fast, fast , fast ! Less than eight hours and the job was complete. He ordered the necessary parts(they were here in 24 hrs. due to his good relationships with his providers),his staff was polite, professional in every way from office staff to his technical support. Everything was "a piece of cake" an extraordinary statement considering he and staff were working in a very tight space in more than 95 degree heat. His other watch phrase was one we've all heard "work smarter not harder" ,his company is the embodiment of this concept. My family has been in construction and real estate in Orlando for nearly seventy years , Steve gets work done!!!!

Ben and his crew are very nice and very professional. They did a great job of replacing my old heat pump and repairing some water damage. It's really important that you feel comfortable with the people that are in your house all day, and they are definitely people you can feel comfortable with and trust to do a great job. I would highly recommend Ben and his company Neat Air and Heat to anyone needing AC repair or installation.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. What is an HVAC system?

The letters in HVAC stand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. An HVAC system enables you to regulate your home or building’s internal temperature (thermal control) for comfortable living and working. You can bring heat levels down in the summer and up in the winter, keeping your home or office livable year-round. HVAC systems can also help with humidity levels and regulate indoor air quality in a home or office. There are many types of HVAC systems and technologies available.

Many homes have a forced-air HVAC system. Both the heating and the central air conditioning units share a ductwork system where they either push in or pull out warm or cooled air. There are also heating and cooling systems that don’t require ductwork — such as ductless mini-splits — but work on the same principles of heat exchange. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670, with costs varying depending on the work you need done and the equipment you are installing.

How much does it cost to get central air?

Prices for central-air HVAC systems will vary. The national average to hire an HVAC specialist is $2,920-$3,670 but can run as high as $5,000 or even $12,000 depending on the capacity you need and other factors. Installing central air conditioning requires an entire system that works together to draw hot air out of your home. The system includes an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor, and the evaporator coils. If you don’t have an existing duct system, ductwork will need to be installed, which will affect labor and material costs. Leaking or damaged ducts will also need to be replaced.

How many years does HVAC last?

The number of years an HVAC system lasts depend on the type and brand of components that make up your system. The lifespan of an air conditioner averages between 15 and 20 years. The life expectancy of a tankless water heater is approximately 20 years, while a storage water heater is closer to 10-15 years. Ducts may need replacing within 10-15 years. Your equipment will have a longer life if you have regular tuneups and maintenance to keep everything in good working order. If you’re having repair problems and your HVAC system is over 10 years old, it’s a good time to consider the costs and benefits of repairing vs. replacing. Energystar.gov provides the following tips to help you decide whether to repair or replace:

  • Your HVAC system needs frequent repairs and your energy bills are increasing.
  • Your cooling or heating equipment is less efficient.
  • Rooms in your home are too hot or too cold.
  • Your heat pump or air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
    • Replacing your system with an Energy Star-certified unit could save up to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills.
  • Your furnace or boiler is more than 15 years old.
    • You may choose to replace your system with an Energy Star-certified furnace (which is 15 percent more efficient than a conventional furnace) or an Energy Star-certified boiler (which is 5 percent more efficient).
  • Your home has humidity problems.
  • Your home has excessive dust.
    • Leaky ducts can pull particles and air from attics, crawl spaces and basements and distribute them throughout your house. Sealing your ducts may be a solution.
  • Your heating or cooling system is noisy.
    • You could have an undersized duct system or a problem with the indoor coil of your cooling equipment.
  • Your score on the Home Energy Yardstick is below five.
    • That means your home energy use is above average and you're probably paying too much for your utilities.

How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.
