I recently hired Louis Pettinelli Entertainment for two separate corporate functions. For one of the events, he provided a jazz trio. For the other event, he provided a vocals/guitar soloist. The jazz trio was smooth, and really provided a level of ambiance that we’ve never experienced before, especially given that we’ve always hired a DJ. The gentlemen in the band showed up on time, were quickly set up, were dressed well, and were extremely professional. The vocalist/guitarist was very dynamic, and interacted with the crowd. He also played a wide range of repertoire. It’s definitely worth mentioning that Louis told me in our initial discussions that a live band added something that a DJ could not. After speaking with him, I decided to take him up on his offer, and see if this was the case. We had never had a live musician before. Although we were skeptical at first, this may have been the best entertainment decision that we’ve made. Thus, if you’re thinking about a DJ versus a live band for your event, I can absolutely say that Louis Pettinelli Entertainment’s Ensembles are absolutely worth it. I’ll definitely be hiring Louis again. Thank you for the beautiful music!Nov 20, 2019
Right from the time I booked Louis and his band it was so easy and professional. Louis went out of his way to accommodate all my requests. He managed to put together everything I envisioned for our black tie event for a hundred guests. I would highly recommned them.Dec 10, 2019Verified

I hired Louis Pettinelli to play a corporate event at the Kimmel Center and I couldn't have been much happier with the result. Louis is very professional and takes his work seriously. They were terrific in every sense. The music was exactly what we wanted- no light jazz, but a more progressive upbeat style that kept the party moving. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.Dec 2, 2019
Louis and his jazz group were absolutely wonderful! Louis was very professional, easy to work with, and his ensemble was very talented. I look forward to hiring LPE for my future events!Nov 21, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Prospective customers should know the following about my pricing policy: I work to find a fair price that works for both the customer and me. I always aim to find a cost that doesn't break the bank, but accurately reflects the services that I provide. In addition, it's important to me for customers to know that my hourly rate of $150 per hour is an estimation of my services. I am always trying to find affordable deals for my musical services. For example, my minimum pricing for a solo performer for 1 hour is $250. A one person ensemble is the smallest ensemble I offer. However, a 2 hour performance for a solo performer is typically only $300.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? My typical process for working with a new customer begins with showing them the array of musical services we provide. Louis Pettinelli Entertainment (Kansas City Branch) is LPE's newest regional branch, and specializes in jazz and classical entertainment. Some of the types of ensembles we provide include solo piano services, jazz duo, jazz trio, solo piano for a wedding ceremony, and string ensembles for wedding ceremonies and other events. After showing a new customer the services that accurately correspond to their request, I also show them information about the company's background, including our major clients and training. All of my staff are full-time, professional musicians that consistently rank as some of the most talented and passionate musicians in their field. In addition, they are completely reliable, and are true professionals in every sense of the word. After showing the prospective customer samples, I explain what makes us different from any other band or agency on Thumbtack, and work to find a price that works for both the customer and I.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My training in music is extensive. I hold a bachelor's and master's degree in music from a four-year university, where I studied upright bass in both classical and jazz formats for several years. Equally as important, however, is my practical training. I have been a freelance bassist for years. Rather than having sat behind a desk and sent musicians out to various events, I have worked as a freelance musician for years, and continue to do so, both as a sideman and band leader. From still continuing to personally perform hundreds of events per year, I know what a good band should sound like, and what the optimal behavior and performance for live music should entail. I have immersed myself in the local music scene so that I have first-hand experience. This is important, and a differentiating factor, in my opinion. Many of the heads of booking agencies consign themselves to a "desk job" role, and greatly minimize the amount of performing they do, or stop altogether. People hiring musicians for an event want someone who has first hand experience and practical knowledge of what an event with live musicians requires. Every musician that I hire, play with, or send out to an event has been "battle-tested", so to speak, and can be ensured to be reliable, professional, and deliver a premium service.
