Mark was quick to contact me and was very professional and friendly. His employee Vision visited us at our home before we left, and then sent us daily updates and photos of our cat each time he came to visit. Our cat loved him! The online billing system was easy to use, too. Highly recommended!

Sarah is wonderful! I was nervous to find a pet sitter because I was always lucky enough to have family in town to take care of my cat Kate. But that wasn't the case anymore and luckily I found Sarah! She was exactly on time for our first meeting to get to know her. I went over everything and she took notes and asked questions. After each visit she let me know how Kate was doing and sent me some pictures. She went out of her way when I needed her and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. I have just relocated to a new state and will miss having Sarah to watch my sweet Kate!

We went on vacation for a week, and Lori took great care of our small dog and cat. They were happy to see her upon returning with our key after we got home, which is always a nice sign. She also sent pictures of them which was a sweet surprise.

I can't say enough of how much I LOVED my service. I'd just had a child and the last few months of pregnancy were out of control. Bills were coming left and right and my house got very unorganized. I friend of mine used Peace of Mind before and referred me to Tia. All I can say is Tia was a God sent in helping me get my life back in order. I never knew my office/home spaces could be so cleaned up. Not only did she organize everything in a way that I just didn't have the energy to do, but she gave me tips to keep it clean. If you want to get her home neat and organized, but you just don't have the time or you don't know where to start because it's so overwhelming then PLEASE give them a call. :) You won't regret it.

Tara was amazing! It was my first time using a cat sitter, so I was a little nervous. But Tara exceeded my expectations. She kept me updated with pictures and notes. And, my normally shy cat seemed to take a liking to her! She made me feel completely at ease! Will definitely be using her services again!

Gary is very organized and dependable. He is very attentive to my two dogs and is trustworthy and honest. I would recommend Gary to anyone who is interested in a good dog walker. I have had quirky dog walkers in the past. I can always be assured that things will be in order when I return home. No mess, no extra trash, no broken items. Also, Gary knows that I don't need a poop report or a report card when I come home but I am sure he'd be willing to do it if you need. He does his job and does it well.

Richard did a great job working with our picky cat. Not only did he get our cat to eat but he kept a log of which foods our cat preferred during the week/weekend so we knew which ones he would eat upon our arrival home.

Carol is fantastic! She is professional and timely. She is much more mature than most pet sitters around. Very reliable! She is comfortable with older dogs and cats as well as puppies and kittens. She says she can do fish and birds too! She can administer meds and handle emergencies like a pro.

    About

I walk dogs, watch over them while they play with their favorite ball or toy, give them their needed medication, and make sure they stay safe and secure.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do cats have to get groomed?

It’s not crazy to have your cat groomed. Grooming will keep your cat’s fur soft and silky as well as give you early warning about any health concerns. Regular grooming can also help reduce the volume of hair your cat may be shedding and keep your longhair kitty cool if you live in a warm climate. Professionals competently groom your cat and are trained to manage them if they resist being groomed, while you may get scratched doing the same task. The national average price for cat grooming is $50-$70. Pet grooming prices may vary based on the task. For example, a bath and brush for shorthair cats may be $15, $20 for medium-hair cats, and $25 for a longhair. Cat groomers can also keep your cat’s ears cleaned, trim their nails, and provide haircuts if needed. Average prices for haircuts can vary from $30 to $95 or more, depending on whether the cat is shy or aggressive and whether their coat is in good condition, matted, or otherwise difficult to groom.

How much should cat grooming cost?

Keeping your cat groomed is an important part of maintaining their good health. The national average cost for cat grooming ranges between $50 and $70, with prices varying based on where you live and the services you request. Your cat’s temperament can also affect grooming prices. Scratching and hissing during a groomer visit can raise rates an average of $5-$10, or more, as hazard pay. Larger cats and long-haired cats that take longer to groom will also usually cost more. Here are some examples of cat grooming average costs:

    • Shave down or lion cut: $35-$60. These cuts preserve the hair around the face and tip of the tail but shave down the entire body. The lion cut is often recommended for extremely matted hair is exceedingly matted, for extreme heat, or for cats who are suffering from hairballs.
    • Ear cleaning and nail trim: $30.
    • Nail trim: $10-$15.
    • Bath and nail trim: $45.
    • Bath and sanitary trim: $55. A sanitary trim clips the hair on a cat’s behind to prevent fecal matting in longhair cats or cats that have mobility issues.
    • Bath, blow-dry, brush out, nail trim and ear cleaning: $40.
    • Full haircut, bath, and nail trim: $45-$95, depending on matting.

Where can you get your cat groomed?

Cat grooming keeps your cat’s fur tangle-free and clean. Most businesses that offer dog grooming or general pet grooming also offer cat grooming; some businesses even specialize solely in cat grooming. Look for a professional who has training grooming cats or belongs to a professional association such as the National Cat Groomers Institute, because cat grooming techniques can be different than for dogs. Cat grooming can encompass a wide range of services. In addition to haircutting, hair detangling and hairstyling, cat groomers can trim cat nails, clean out your cat’s ears, give flea baths, demat, trim facial fur, bathe and even blow-dry your cat. Health safety and etiquette requires your cat to be in good health and have all their vaccinations before using grooming services.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
