I hired LMN Designs and worked directly with Leroux Duncan. I did not take writing this review lightly, because Leroux was always polite and clearly worked hard. However, I feel it’s important to share an honest experience so future customers can make an informed decision before hiring him or his company.

I hired Leroux to repair and prep a wall in a room that will be our nursery. The wall is a shiplap feature wall that we wanted skim-coated, sanded, and primed to seal the gaps so it would be ready for wallpaper. Before hiring him, I sent photos of the wall along with dimensions and asked if this was a job he could confidently do and recommend. He responded promptly, provided an itemized quote for labor and materials, and estimated the project would take 2 days (8–10 hours total).

On day one, Leroux arrived on time, prepped the space, and completed the first part of the work. On day two, he began working and said he would step away for about an hour to allow the wall to dry. He did not return for approximately four hours and then rushed to finish the job before it got dark. Before he left, we expressed concern about visible bubbling in the areas where the shiplap gaps had been skim-coated. He reassured us and said that if there were any issues once it dried or during wallpapering, he would return after we came back from a planned holiday trip to fix it.

When we returned, the bubbled areas had dried raised and cracked, and the wall looked worse than before. We contacted Leroux with a video. His responses were slow, but he eventually scheduled a time to return and redo the work.

He then spent two additional days attempting to fix the wall. As he was leaving, he said, “This was harder than I thought it would be,” and mentioned that the wall could crack again because our dryer is located on the other side of the wall. He told us to call him if it needed to be fixed again. In total, he spent roughly four days and 25 hours on a job that still was not completed correctly and ultimately was not worth the time or cost.

Two days later, the wall has already cracked again — and we have not even used the dryer. Additionally, the vents were not taped off during the work, resulting in a fine layer of plaster dust throughout our home. The nursery and surrounding areas are heavily coated, and we now need to hire professional cleaners. There is also dried plaster on our carpet and driveway that we are having to scrape off.

This has significantly set us back on our timeline, as we now need to hire someone else to redo the wall entirely before we can wallpaper and paint the room.

Looking back, the limited number of reviews and the willingness to significantly reduce the quote when I mentioned budget concerns should have been red flags. I’m not sure whether this job was outside of his experience or if it was overpromised, but based on our experience, I would not hire or recommend this company for this type of work.
