Greg Shelnut: A Golf Teacher of Excellence
I started taking golf lessons from Greg more than a year ago and made considerable progress in finding and improving a swing. Greg’s personality is perfectly suited to be a teacher. He is kind, considerate, and affirming. He not only focuses on the mechanics of the swing, but also on the fundamentals that underlie what makes a consistently good swing. I had to temporarily discontinue lessons for eight months because of shoulder surgery. Upon resuming lessons recently, in just two lessons with Greg’s excellent coaching, I was able to continue my progress as if I hadn’t had an eight month hiatus. Having been a teacher for most of my life, I can appreciate the instructional gifts that Greg hands his students. He is truly at the top of his game.

Great progressive training style. He breaks it down so that you understand different aspects before you try them. I can actually see my swing developing weekly and I've even narrowed my overall shot dispersion.

Greg is a great instructor. I played 20 years without an eagle and now I have 5 eagles in less than a year.

My experience with Greg has been wonderful. I take at least 5 minutes to swing at one ball, and Greg has been nothing but patient with me. His schedule has been flexible, and he is always willing to help when I practice. He is very encouraging and I can tell he wants to help me reach my goals. I will definitely continue to take lessons and recommend Greg to my friends and colleagues.

I have never plyed a lot of golf, nor have I ever taken any golf lessons. At the age of 70, my game was what it was. My wife gave me a set of clubs for my last birthday and I felt I owed it to her to improve my game. Greg Shelnutt was referred to me by a local golf driving range. I have had 3 lessons so far and I can honestly say that Greg's teaching style will definitely improve my game. His knowledge and technical skills are superb. While I won't be going on tour anytime soon, I will, without a doubt, begin to really enjoy golf.

Greg Shelnutt is a an outstanding instructor. My swing and score have gotten a lot better since I started working with him. I would recommend him to anyone. He's very detailed on swing mechanics.

I really enjoyed working with Greg. Even though his rates are cheaper than average, his knowledge and expertise are just as valuable as the other places I've gone too. I highly recommend Greg as he has taken my scores from the 90's to consistently shooting in the mid 70's - low 80's (depending on how I play :-)).

Greg is a extraordinarily gifted teacher. His teaching style is patient, thoughtful, and informal. I've had several golf teachers during the last 20 years, and Greg is, by far, the best teacher that I've had. We've been working on my game for about six months and I have vastly improved. He is especially adept at analyzing how I am approaching my stance and my swing, among other things, of course. And offers suggestions and demonstrations to help me transfer what I learn during my lesson to the practice range. I have absolutely no suggestions of "what could have been better." Greg is my ideal of a great teacher.

I had all but given up on the thought of golfing until I received some great instruction and coaching from Gerg Shelnutt. I am amazed at how much I've improved in just a few months. I can now go play and actually enjoy it. Thanks Greg.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I attend seminars at various locations with the PGA of America.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
I have package deals and monthly memberships. Package deals are cheaper than the rack rate of one lesson. Feel free to contact me for a complimentary 20 minutes to see if you like the material presented.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I help in all aspects with the game of golf with the core being the fundamentals. Grip, posture, alignment, ball position and stance make up the foundation to a good golf swing. We organize your strong and weak points and map out a practice plan that will cover the principles needed for the areas of improvement specified for each individual.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Hitting the ball is the easiest part of the game - hitting it effectively is the most difficult. If you have an understanding of why the ball does what it does in connection to what you're doing to make it happen then you gain more control of the game. Doing this without a coach makes it a guessing game. When you're practicing each segment that makes up the big component with a certified instructor, you will get results in half the time and not develop bad habits that will eventually need to be broken.
