About
My teaching style is customized to the needs of each student. I believe that music is made of the same components regardless of style, and as such you can use any piece of music to teach music. I enjoy watching my students progress and spreading the joy of music making.

Highly recommended! I've been taking lessons from him for a few years now, and have learned a lot! We typically work on songs, and he's great about painlessly sneaking in elements of music theory, while still keeping things upbeat and fun.

I've been taking bass lessons from Jim Coley close to three years now and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. I came into it knowing absolutely nothing about bass with the exception of knowing I wanted to play. I didn't even know the note names of each open string! I'm still learning and have much to learn but I couldn't have picked a better teacher. He's patient, supportive, encourging and experienced. I came in aiming to be as well rounded as I could be and he has covered so much ground with me in a diverse curriculum spanning every genere possible. He is also more than willing to teach you songs by your favorite bands or artists. He goes above and beyond every time and has been flexible with me at every turn. Its more than worth your time and is one of the most valuable insvestments I have made since moving here. I strongly implore anyone with the desire to learn to take some cash and spend a few minutes with him and see how it goes. You'll be glad you did!

Jim is a great instructor. Our lessons are tailored to my interests - and week to week, the songs we focus on build on where I need improvement, along with relevant chord structure. Jim is easy to relate to, and that comes through in a relaxed learning environment. You get out what you put in - would definitely recommend Jim for lessons.

I've been taking guitar lessons from Jim Coley for a couple of years now. I was self taught on "cowboy chords" and decided in my mid 40's I wanted to learn different styles, be able to read tabs and learn more about the structure of sheet music. Jim's teaching style has made this challenge a fun and enjoyable learning experience. The selection of music and lessons he works with me on has tremendous range and style from Classic Rock, Latin, Funk, Jazz, Blues and more. I would highly recommend some sessions with Jim. It has been and continues to be a great experience.

Jim is a great guitar teacher He caters to exactly what you want to learn, he is well equipped to write musical arrangements in tab and official notation so you have both to learn from I teach guitar at a music school and I still study with Jim because he keeps challenging me so our lessons help me be a better teacher all around !!
