About
We offer the full experience learning piano at our studio. Students learn not just how to play, but music theory, how to perform, how to listen, and the love of music. We recently had a very successful recital, which every single student enjoyed and gained confidence and a feeling of accomplishment. I love the challenge of creating a custom learning experience for every individual student. I also love how much I learn from my students, and how each one of them makes me a better teacher.

Ruthanna was wonderful and a delight to have in our home. We hosted an annual Christmas dinner party so she played Christmas music all through the evening including our group singing along after dinner. Our guests all enjoyed her talent and pleasant personality. We will use her again!

I'm 54 years, have a Ph.D. in chemistry and play piano at an advanced level for leisure. I decided to purchase a 7 foot grand piano to start learning and reviewing pieces from the past without a teacher to guide me. Though I was able to master most of the pieces I wanted, I was having difficulty with several. Thus, I started looking and found Ruthana. I found she was overall an excellent teacher. She showed me a better way to position and move my hands for greater clarity and speed in my playing. She gave me a renewed sense of how to integrate bringing the melody out while tending carefully to the underlying chords and notes. I got complemented by listeners that heard me play the pieces I had learned from Ruthana. She also has a great smile and is desiring to help you out well in many ways. She is especially great for working with children and young adults. She connects very well with them. There was a piano recital a few months ago where I was witness to this. (You can also see the children on her website.) She also gives lessons to advanced students like me. There was at least one other student who played the same or better than me, and numerous intermediate level students. I recommend Ruthana and I know that if you visit her you will want to stay with her.

My daughter is having a true musical experience, not just learning how to move her fingers. This is what we have been looking for, and which is hard to find.

Ruthanna is an excellent piano instructor! She has helped me learn to read music quickly and is very encouraging. She emphasizes proper technique and has true passion for the art of playing piano. Her studio is beautiful and comfortable, and her grand piano is a treat to play.

I came to Ruthanna as a saxophone player looking to learn the piano after some time away from playing my horn. I really wanted to get into Bach's music and right away she had me working on some of his inventions. In about a year and a half, we have covered quite a bit but some of my favorite pieces so far include Brahms's Waltz in A minor, Chopin's prelude in E minor, Debussy's Reverie and The Sunken Cathedral also by Debussy. Most of these pieces are ones that I have picked out and Ruthanna has been very patient with me as I learn how to play them. She has always encouraged me to play the music I like. Without Ruthanna's help I would have spent much longer trying to teach myself this music. My sight reading, sense of rhythm, musicianship and harmonic analysis have definitely improved from time spent playing the piano with Ruthanna.
