Introduction: I’m a multi-instrumentalist, including violin, guitar, trumpet, and voice! I started taking classical violin lessons when I was 8, and grew up playing old-time fiddle music with my mom in New Hampshire. I've always loved exploring new instruments, and began playing guitar more seriously in college and afterwards in bands. No matter what age or genre, I believe music lessons should be fun and creative, and facilitate general musicality! I’ll help you learn both to read sheet music and play by ear, incorporate basic music theory, and most importantly develop your ability to express yourself on the instrument. I’m excited to offer beginner violin and guitar lessons for students of all ages! Whether you or your child are looking to play classical music or old-time fiddle, we’ll talk through your goals and passions and get started! I’ve played in several bands and ensembles, taught violin lessons at Wheeler School in Providence, RI and coached bands at Girl’s Rock, and I look forward to being your teacher! I’m located in Old Fourth Ward, and offering in-person in-home lessons in nearby neighborhoods including Cabbagetown/Reynoldstown, Inman Park, and Little Five Points. If you’re not sure if that’s you, shoot me a message and we’ll figure it out! Covid-19 Precautions: Unfortunately because of the nature of violin technique in particular, I am not currently offering Zoom lessons . However, I hope to conduct lessons as safely as possible. I have been heavily limiting non-essential activities, and just got my first dose of the vaccine! Depending on circumstances and developing information regarding the pandemic and vaccine, I may prefer to conduct lessons masked (and/or outside if you have a yard, porch, or patio!). Get in touch if you’re interested, and we can discuss precautions in more detail! Your first two lessons are half priced. Let's get to know each other and see if it's a good fit!

Henry M.

Lily is an amazing teacher! She's been teaching my 8-year-old guitar for almost a year now, and he's grown immensely with her help. She is fun and patient, and has fostered his confidence through music. She's always giving him fun songs to work on such as Eye of the Tiger, Should I Stay of Should I Go, etc. Would highly recommend

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I'm offering $40 / half hour lessons, $50 / forty-five minue lessons, and $60 / hour lessons. We'll do a free consultation virtually or in person before we get started, and your first two lessons are half off!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, we'll get in touch over the phone, on Zoom, or in person so we can get to know each other and assess where you or your student is at! Your first two lessons are discounted so you can make sure I'm the right fit.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I studied music theory and performance at Kenyon College as an undergraduate, and performed in the orchestra, jazz band, select choirs, and other ensembles. Since then I've continued to play in bands and ensembles, as well as informally at old-time fiddle jam sessions.
