Working with Genetix Digital Films was a dream! when we first started wedding planning, I did not want a videographer because we thought it was unnecessary. Let me just say, I am SO unbelievably glad that my parents decided to get us one anyways. And I'm even happier that it was Genetix! They captured our day beautifully-- from start to finish. And it was a long day! we also switched back and forth to different locations all day and the videographers followed us everywhere! They made sure to capture EVERYTHING and we are so thankful! The trailer video was beautiful and so fun to share with family and friends. We would have been happy with just the short feature film! Yet Randy also delivered us with an hour long full length wedding video. This was just the icing on the cake! I highly recommend Genetix to any bride or groom looking for a videographer. They deliver amazing results!

AWS Photography did an amazing job for our wedding reception this July 31st! Scott, the photographer, was there early and all of our pictures look so amazing! I encourage you to look at them on the AWS website, our pictures are under (Omar & Ariana). The price was perfect for our 3 hour reception. We received our pictures in a timely manner also,. remember that it will take about 2-3 weeks for pictures because the photographer has to edit them on top of taking pictures for other events and editing those. I did not know about AWS Photography before finding it on thumbtack and I will be highly recommending them!

Patrick was prompt, courteous, patient, and a talented filmaker. He helped us film a Youtube Thanksgiving documentary for a celebrity chef and he did an excellent job at capturing exactly what we wanted. He's also super pleasant to work with, thank you Patrick!

Chandler did an Excellent job with the video production of my sons fight. He drove over 2 hours on short notice to be sure that I got my sons event filmed...even though he was filming another event that afternoon. He captured everything I asked him to along with interviews of trainers and fighters before the fight. He very quickly edited the film and provided me with a copy of the interviews with which I could show to all the fighters. He was very professional, friendly to everyone, and a pleasure to work with. I will most assuredly contact him when we have another fight! Thanks again Chandler for capturing these priceless moments. Elliot Hill

We held a party for the gender reveal of our first child and had many of our family and friends present to share in our surprise. We hired Andrew to film and photograph the party - and we are so glad! He captured perfectly the excitement, love, and emotion of that day! He has an eye for catching the beauty of the small moments and makes the big moments live on forever in his work. He is truly an artist and his talent is evident. The piece he created for us was everything we'd hoped it would be. (I have seen lots of his other work and it is breathtaking). In addition, he is professional and authentic - something often lacking these days! We highly recommend Andrew and will definitely use him again for future events.

I knew in 2013 from the moment I saw Leone Productions films that I wanted to work with him for my wedding. Unfortunately my first engagement was called off however I recently married in 2017 and new Leone Productions was the only videographer I would ever want to work with. My wedding was captured in such a way that brought tears to my eyes and now I have memories that I will never forget. If you are looking for superior service, and a creative videographer you need to select Leone Productions! You will be extremely satisfied!

I cannot be any happier/proud with the work that Jaron presented to us after the event. :) He provided me with not only high quailty, edited and professional pictures but the most stunning video for the entire event! He recommended a highlight video and he was some how able to capture all the pictures and a video at the same time, which i know from a background in the industry, is quite hard to do. He is very efficient and great at what he does. :) From the beginning, Jaron was the most professional in his prompt responsiveness at all times. If I had any questions and concerns, Jaron replied quickly and was even nice enough to work around any last minute changes. The day of the event, he not only showed up earlier than his start time, but was also so understanding and patient to even help with last minute changes, where he was still able to incorporate into his pictures and video. Even after the final video, he was so kind to even make some changes I suggested, which made me very happy as well as showed that he was very easy to work with. He clearly takes his work very seriously and will perfect it to the clients standards. As the host of the event, my husband and I were very happy with his work as well as his genuine and helpful personality. The couple we kept the event for were absolutely delighted with his work as well as other guests that attended also, and were willing to hire him for several events in the future. So, we will happy to see him again in the future as a photographer/videographer we can depend on. Again, I can't be any happier than I already am about Jaron's professionalism and quality of work. Coming from a background in the wedding industry as an event planner, I would highly recommend Jaron to photograph and video any event as his work is exemplary. :) Thank you again Jaron. We will definitely be in touch for the next event. :)

Working with Luis is always a pleasure. There are many times he's helped me out with film projects. Whether it's making visual effects, editing, or operating a camera I can always count on him to complete a project at a professional level and on time. I recall one time in particular I needed visual effects done or a very tight deadline. I gave the project to Luis to complete and within 24 hours he had it ready for me to review. Any notes or adjustments that were needed were completed immediately and with his help we made the deadline. I wouldn't change anything about his work ethic. Luis is definitely a team player and a valid member on any team.

While looking for a wedding photographer, a friend had suggested i get in contact with Caroline. She had done head shots for my friend, but had included wedding photos in her portfolio. Caroline was great at staying out of the way while taking great candid shots of my friends, and was clear and precise when taking staged pictures. My wedding photos turned out great and I could not recommend Highway Home any higher!

About

Our work stands out from others who do what we do because of our passion, dedication, and planning. We believe in doing large amounts of two things: research and practice. Not only that, but we also truly love what we do and love the fact that we have the opportunity to do it for a living. For us, this is a dream come true, so in every piece of work, we pour our heart out. What we like most about this profession is the incredible people whom we come into contact with. Our clients are, at the end of the day, believers in us and our work. Meeting someone who believes in your life's work provides a feeling that is unlike any other in the world.

I had my headshots done by The Movement, specifically David. He knew exactly what he was doing and he was incredibly kind during. I get scared in front of cameras and he knew how to make me comfortable and I looked great. I now use the photos for every audition because I have enough looks for modeling, theatre, and film. Great pricing and great attitudes. Next time I need headshots, I will definitely come back. Wonderful organization!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
