Bob did an excellent job on building the deck. When Bob was building the deck he went over step by step what he was doing and why he had to do it that way. Bob is very detail and proficient at what he does.

We couldn't be happier with our deck! Our deck boards were literally falling in and unsafe. Jim was very accommodating and adjusted his busy schedule in order to meet with us during the specific time window we needed. He was able to offer great and reasonable solutions that didn't break the bank, while being personable and down to earth. Jim and his assistant were able to complete the deck not just on time, but ahead of schedule! The final product is quality work and now we're proud of our deck again and don't fear falling through a rotting deck. We will definitely be using him again for various projects around the house.

Daniel and team, with excellent supervision from Daniel, completed my home project, (pressure washing entire house, preparation and painting porch deck, and screening with fiberglass screen), for a very reasonable cost and results that exceeded my expectations. Will go with DelBoc for future home projects. (Daniel is preparing a quote for another project currently)! Highly recommend!

Hank is one of the best construction guys I have had the pleasure of working with. His knowledge of his industry is fantastic and he makes you feel very comfortable and confident in his ability to do his job. He built my back yard deck and front deck steps. The quality of work is amazing and my wife and I are so happy with the outcome. I would highly recommend Hank to anyone. He also does the work himself with his team which for me was a bonus. I have met with other contractors who come out for a quote and you never see them once you hire them, Hank is not one of these people. He cares about his clients and takes pride in doing the best job for them.

Brandon Turner and his crew did an excellent job tearing done my old deck and building a new one in two days! They were so polite and worked together very well. Brandon is also very honest as I wrote a check would have overpaid his and he brought it back to me to give him the proper amount.

Our experience with Nathan has been exceptional. His quality of work is phenomenal and his range of knowledge was really helpful when we needed not only a new roof and deck, but a complete remodel of our master bathroom. Nathan is both professional and courteous and keeps to the timeline established. We cannot say enough about him and his work, we figure we will have to take him with us if we ever move out of state!

Zach and Kenny are both very friendly and polite professionals that made a challenging task seem easy. They leveled the rear deck of my home which is 6' deep x 35' long and makes a 90 deg turn covering an additional 6' deep x 35' length. The deck also supports the weight of an overhead roof line covering its entire area and extends 3' plus over its edge. Oh and did I mention the height of the deck's bottom access. It varies from almost 5' high at one end and drops to barely 2' 4" on the other. And don't forget the additional fun of those bushes. On one side they are over 7' high and provided a nice back scratch while working behind them. In conclusion, don't hesitate to hire these guys as I'm confident you'll be pleased with the quality of thier work and the ease at which they "Get The Job Done".

Marc built my deck and screened in my other porch. A true craftsman in every since of the word. Marc was very professional as well as punctual. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this project from start to finish. He made sure to keep us in the loop and made every decision based on what we wanted done while also giving us a different perspective and unique ideas that we would have never thought of. Marc used the most up to date and best overall products and techniques. An absolutely amazing experience and I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting the best craftsmanship at a price you can afford. Marc will continue to do any projects that I have and look forward to seeing him again.

DeWayne Hancock first built a 800 sq.ft. wrap-around covered porch on my house it was a very good experence and he did the job very timely. A couple of years later he build a 200 sq foot bath addition onto our master bathroom another great job. I purchased a log home that had 40% fire damage. Damage was very extensive and included the roof, loft, one complete side of house, a deck and partial kitchen rebuilding. Mike and Danny came before I finalized the purchase, evaluated the damage and gave me an estimate. They completed the job in 6 months with outstanding results and coming in below budget. I had a fabulous experience and will have them back to build my barn!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who is a carpenter and what do they do?

Carpenters are skilled craftsmen who build things out of wood. Depending on what the carpenter builds, they may be referred to by various names. A framer is a carpenter who puts up the framing on a house. A trim or finish carpenter installs the finishing touches of prefabricated or custom trim and detail work once a house has been built and the walls are up. A furniture maker or woodworker builds furniture — such as tables, beds and dressers — out of wood. A cabinetmaker is a carpenter who builds custom and semi-custom wood cabinets. If you’re having a home built or remodeled, your general contractor will either provide or subcontract the carpentry work for the framing, cabinets and trim. You can hire a carpenter directly to update the trim in your home, build you a piece of custom furniture, or repair or replace your wood cabinets.

Do carpenters build houses?

Carpenters are trained to work with wood. That means that any part of your home that is built of wood is very likely to involve a carpenter. Framing carpenters will put up the wood that makes up the bones of your home. If you’re having a wood floor installed, it may be done by a carpenter — although being a carpenter is not a requirement to install flooring. Trim, baseboards, wainscoting and any other detail work is typically installed by a finish carpenter. The wood boxes of custom cabinets will be built and installed by a carpenter.

Although all of these components in your new or remodeled home are built by carpenters who specialize in building things with wood, a general contractor typically oversees construction of the entire house. If the general contractor is also a carpenter skilled in all these areas, they may well construct your entire home. More often, the general contractor subcontracts out the various building stages to different individuals, including carpenters.
