Our experience with this company has been a NIGHTMARE! First we were promised two videographers at the wedding to only have one manned camera and a standing camera. So as our cocktail hour was going on with our special entertainment, which I clearly expressed I wanted recorded, Mr. Neel was videotaping us taking photos. Secondly, we were told that we would receive our highlight video 5 weeks from our wedding date, and only after countless failed completion dates we received it almost 10 weeks later (July 30th) - when we were suppose to receive our actual wedding video. We were then promised, “The estimated delivery time for the final DVDs is the week of 8/11-8/17/2013.” To date there is NO VIDEO! We received an e-mail on August 26th stating there was a “hardware malfunction” and clients video footage were compromised. Can you imagine the horror to know that after all this headache and frustration, there may be no wedding video?!?!?!?! My husband contacted Mr. Neel to get clarification. We were reassured that most of our footage had been retrieved, and he was just missing the exit scene from the reception. Again, Mr. Neel gave us a promised date of completion – September 15th, 2013. The day arrives and we receive a text message from Mr. Neel stating that at the last moment, he discovered an HOUR AND A HALF of lost footage from our 5 hour wedding! Remember he assured us no real footage was lost! He then asked to reschedule till Tuesday, September 17th. My husband, beyond frustrated, responded that he should not contact us again until he had a FINALIZED video in hand and walking out the door! So here we are now October 21, 2013, five month later since wedding, with no wedding video! I would never recommend Areel Occasion to ANYONE! EVER!

Good Day Desamours, Thank you for recently sharing feedback on our services. I must say that it actually took me by surprise because we had good communication between us. It is our policy to make our interactions with our clients one of value, respect, and integrity while providing a high-quality product. This is actually your first time sharing your sentiments with our company. Though I do recognize that we were coordinating our schedules to meet to discuss the status of your project. I provided several dates and times, upon which I received a response back (on a previously provided date) the day of, two days after presenting to you at the time, my current availability. In every attempt to still accommodate a meeting with you, I provided the next remaining dates and times I was available to meet. This did not satisfy your demand to meet specifically when you wanted to meet. The next day, my company was confronted with these very words shared on over half a dozen message boards. Naturally, we were concerned because a misrepresentation of our services and the timeline of our services rendered to date were conveyed. We understand the value of time and integrity. We value your time and know that you value our services based on the agreement of our services. We also value the earned trust in our quality of service, professionalism and honoring of our relationships with you, our client. The agreed upon services in the production agreement signed by you, states 2 cameras, 1 manual, 1 stationary, in which you selected this package special over our package with 2 camera operators. On your day of rehearsal, we also reviewed the logistics for your wedding day with you as well. On the day of your wedding, we arrived with the agreed upon equipment and labor. Yes, we did get footage of your photo session, with your immediate family and bridal party. But again, here is another misrepresentation or recount of how long we actually were a part of your photo session. After the initial photos, we proceeded to get footage of your cocktail hour. Approximately 2 weeks after your wedding, you inquired if we had footage of the dancers. Our response was, “if that was part of the cocktail hour, yes we did, I am not certain how much of it we captured, but we have footage I believe of them. We have not completed our review of all the footage but we will know more as we continue to review the footage.” You in turn wanted to know if we could have the highlight ready by your husband’s birthday which was coming up in a few days. We responded again that we average 4-6 weeks for the highlight video and 8-10 weeks for the final video. We stated that we would try to get the video to you in time for his birthday. Your highlight video was delivered 8 days past our ‘estimated’ time which you gave us positive feedback on. We did experience a company-wide hardware failure. We notified all our clients that were possibly affected by the hardware. Part of our communication included what occurred, what steps we were making to resolve the issue, and our backup strategy to complete their projects. Most of our clients appreciated the speediness in addressing the issue and not allowing them to find out by chance. To resolve the issue, we hired two third-party service specialists in Networking & Programming and Data Security & Recovery, to address what occurred and implement new hardware/workflow systems to prevent this from occurring again. We also stated that it would cause a delay in delivery, after we recovered all the data and backed it up. And at the moment, we identified the bulk of the footage from your wedding day. I admit, that there was one scheduled date that we missed and that was the estimated date for delivery. We had been in communication on each update of the progress throughout. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We are looking forward to a mutual time and date to meet for delivery. We wanted to also provide a discount for the lost footage and as a client courtesy for our services being unsatisfactory . We apologize for you feeling like working with us was a nightmare. Our values are based on service of high-value and a high-quality final product, that will last you a lifetime. We understand that we cannot change an impacted memory of your relationship with us during your special occasion. But we do want to provide you a favorable experience via your video and your last engagement with us. On our one year anniversary of our wedding (May 23rd), my husband and I still await our supposed wedding video that seems to have been rendering since November 2013! Mind you we were promised delivery of our final video 8 weeks from event. We have tried every means possible, even enlisting the help of Fox 5's Call For Action. It appears that Mr. Neal seems is a professional at running game. There has been so many promised completion/delivery dates it is ridiculous. At this point it is evident that there is no video. Beware of this company! You may never get your video. We paid half up front for a service that was never completed.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

A Reel Occasion was created by Anthony Neal who naturally had a passion and zest for life, starting at an early age. As an outgoing youth, Anthony started carrying his camera with him, recording his everyday life and the people he encountered. He still has those videos today! Anthony studied film and video production at Columbia College in Chicago, IL. In the early 2000’s, A Reel Occasion started shooting at weddings and special events. In 2008, we incorporated memoirs, family reunions, graduation and tribute videos to our list of services that we offer. Today, Our Mission is to capture the LOVE expressed by couples, friends and relatives at these special events and to create a timeless piece of history to pass from one generation to the next – a reel of memories to last a lifetime!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We believe that no job is common but that every service performed is unique and a different experience. We have had the pleasure of filming mostly weddings, birthday celebrations, tribute videos and therefore have a lot of expertise in these areas. We especially enjoy editing them in a way to piece together a history of reel moments for our clients to enjoy!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure you do your research about the provider. Look for more than just a reasonable price. Ask as many questions to familiarize yourself with the process of the company working for you. Check references, reviews and equipment used. Listen to the tone of the person who is working for you, on the phone, email and the overall gut feeling you have after meeting with them. They are working for you and should go above and beyond to impress you and ensure that they are exceeding your expectations!
