Carlos showed up on time to install an electrical receptacle and cable outlet above our fireplace. His helper Jose did a fantastic job repairing the drywall and matching our paint in the living room after the installation. Carlos also mounted our TV bracket and installed the TV above our fireplace. He was extremely professional and courteous. We experienced an electrical issue after the installation and Carlos was more than willing and came back out the very next day to replace a bad existing receptacle that was causing the issue. I would definitely recommend him as well as contact him for later projects as well.

I hired Felipe to repair a drywall hole in my ceiling that had been cut out due to plumbing issues. He was able to come the next day and was on time, and even showed up a few minutes early. His price was very reasonable and he did an excellent job! He repaired the dry wall and painted over it after it had dried. The job was done so well that no one would even know that there was once a hole there. I am planning to paint multiple rooms in my home and will certainly be calling Felipe for the job. I would highly recommend!

Great work! Aaron stayed till 3 am till my massive IKEA build was completed. He knew his stuff and stressed safety and building the products to high specifications (there were no screws or bolts left over when he was done)! He knows IKEA stuff and built me 3 chest of drawers, 1 makeup vanity and 1 bed. He also helped me hang a painting above the bed. Highly recommended!

This was our first time hiring off thumbtack. Was very happy witj how quickly people started to respond. We had 4 people come ou and give quotes for tile backsplach and interior paint. We ultimately chose express painting for his knowledge and quick responses. I cant stand someone who doesn't return my calls. We are pleased with the house. One cause i didnt have to do it and two the price and it came out nicely. My only compalints with express painting are how they rush through. I was disappointed when i came hkme the first day to hear they were wrapping up and in my opinion it wasnt done. Lots of rushed and missing areas and old paint bleeding through. We spoke to the guys there and they had already put up most of the stuff. We explained to them that we were not happy and touch ups needed to be done. They called kris and he called us back right away and we explained how some parts were missing and he agreed to make them do it. I hated to watch them pack up but they said they had somewhere else to be. As we walked through the house with open eyes as they started to work again we noticed so much more. Corners that hadnt been repaired like we discussed. We told the main guy and you could see he wasnt happy as they knew fixing it would require them to come back to paint. We called kris who did not answer twice. We then sent a text messgae and he said he couldnt call right now but called his worker right in front of us. So i was a little disappointed about that. He then called us and i explained i didn't want to be rushed in the repairs wr felt like we needed to make. I mean we just spent 1150 on paint. I wanted it right. He assured me he wasnt rushing hut didnt wanna come back 6 times for touch ups which threw me off. I wa shoping to hear that he wanted it right. He told us to use blue tape and marl the areas of disappointment and they would return the next day to fix it. We spent time and did just that. They came and as i got home were wrapping up again. 98% of things were done. Still a few places werent fixed but we are getting carpet next week so we can paint the places oursleves at that time in case the carpet people make an scuffs. I would recommend him just remind them to slow down. I know time is money bit the interior is so important. You see it everyday and notice all the imperfections. We would hire him again for another project just for his willingness to return phone calls. I would have rated perfect if not the rush feeling we had

I hired Allen to paint a bedroom. This included the doors and trim. He showed up on time and brought all the materials needed to do the work. Allen is highly professional. He worked hard and got the job done quickly. I asked him if he had time to paint my hallway. He agreed and very quickly got that done as well. His work is perfection! The walls and trim are beautifully done! I’m very happy and made arrangements for Allen to come back next week to do more painting. I highly recommend Allen and have actually referred him to a friend that needs a painter.

I recently hired Mr. Munoz to pressure wash and stain my deck, and to also paint half of my house. I wanted to let everyone know that he did a outstanding job, he finished in a timely manner, very professional and very trustworthy. He also gave us a very competitive quote. I even went to work while he worked in my home, my kids also loved him. Anytime I need anything I will only call Mr. Miguel from now on. Hope this is helpful.

I hired him to remove popcorn ceiling on the first floor of my home. He was able to come out the same week, and got everything done so quickly that I ended up having him paint the first floor as well. It was a very messy process, and I am still finding popcorn dust all over, but it looks great! Price was fair, and everything was done in 5 days.

I hired David just this past Spring to do quite a list of repair/paint jobs around our 54 year-old house, which has been destroyed by kids and dogs. He painted ceilings in several rooms due to a once-leaking (now new) roof. He had to work extra hard to get the stains out and really did a fabulous job. He made a sagging ceiling in our den completely disappear after having numerous handymen try to conceal it with tape and spackle. He actually did some tightening of a joist and the completed job was fantastic. When we had the family over for dinner, no one could believe that the sagging ceiling in our den was NO LONGER THERE! He painted a small bathroom, hung a cabinet, mirror and other hardware. The walls were in pretty bad shape, but you wouldn't know it now. He actually saved me from having to buy a new door to the bathroom, by doing some magic repair - the door looks good as new. He was able to order me a new microwave oven that had always just sat in a space in the wall with no molding around it. He bought, cut and stained molding and installed it to make my new microwave a true "built-in." He hung a chandelier, put in a new faucet, installed a closet kit, which I bought at Home Depot (with missing parts that David was able to call and have delivered). His work was top notch - professional, done in a very timely manner. He drew up a detailed, job-by-job invoice and the price was very reasonable. Best of all, he didn't leave a mess and didn't make a mess or track in dirt (I'm really fussy about that). I trusted him, as he was in my neighborhood and he is a good family man. With a truck, with the name of his company, plus business cards. And he always promptly communicated - always answered his cellphone or got right back to me. He has my "seal of approval" for sure.

Tom has several rare qualities for a contractor: 1) punctual if going to be late, will call. 2) Always willing to do the extra to ensure the job is done right. 3) Flexible enough to change direction if needed. 4) Really cares about people and the quality of his work. He repaired my deck ceiling. A job that started as replacing and staining a few boards morphed into two trips to Home Depot to find the correct material, two additional trips to try to match the stain and then finally a decision to paint the entire ceiling. Naturally, he could not do this for the original price quoted as the work almost tripled, but he still performed the work for a fair price and with a positive attitude. I would hire him again.

Contreras Home Renovations did a fantastic job transforming my garage into a nice living space for the kids. The work is quality and didn’t break the bank! Luis and his team I could tell right off the bad knew what they were doing. From the framing and insulation, electrical relocating and dryall, trim and paint, flooring and siding, It all came together so nice. They worked hard to see the the job was done right and on scheduale. I admit I’m a pretty picky person and their quality of work is on point. I highly recommend this hard working team for any job you have for them. We love the new space. Thanks again guys! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Scott Specker and his Five Star Painting Team came in to remove the wallpaper from all the hallways in the building where my dental office is located in Hamilton Mill, Dacula Georgia. They did a great job! They told us exactly what to expect, how many days they were going to be there, what paint odors to expect, how they were going to get the job done and they did the work around our schedules. The paint they recommended is a vast improvement over the terrible wall paper that was here before we moved into our space. Super happy with their work and we would call them again to cover our painting needs. Dr. Colin P. Lentz, DDS Lanier Valley Dentistry

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
