Working with Genetix Digital Films was a dream! when we first started wedding planning, I did not want a videographer because we thought it was unnecessary. Let me just say, I am SO unbelievably glad that my parents decided to get us one anyways. And I'm even happier that it was Genetix! They captured our day beautifully-- from start to finish. And it was a long day! we also switched back and forth to different locations all day and the videographers followed us everywhere! They made sure to capture EVERYTHING and we are so thankful! The trailer video was beautiful and so fun to share with family and friends. We would have been happy with just the short feature film! Yet Randy also delivered us with an hour long full length wedding video. This was just the icing on the cake! I highly recommend Genetix to any bride or groom looking for a videographer. They deliver amazing results!

I spent hours trying to just get a videographer to answer the phone when I came across Greggo Lee films. Now I'm glad no one else answered. I needed a funeral filmed on somewhat short notice and it was no problem. Mr. Lee was very responsive and had no problem when I needed him to contact the Reverend at the church prior to the ceremony. His attire was impeccable and him professionalism was on point. I couldn't have found a better videographer in Atlanta and would recommend him without a doubt!

We used Patrick Thomas to film our wedding ceremony and reception in Fall 2013. Mr. Thomas was very professional in our all of our meetings. He also had comparable prices to other videographers. Mr. Thomas allowed us to view and request specific footage to be captured in our DVD. Mr. Thomas was more than willing to handle minor issues during our wedding day to ensure his product and our day was a success. We highly recommend Mr. Thomas for any event as he was wonderful to work with, unobtrusive, affordable and the final product was amazing.

Ike and his partner did a great job as our wedding videographers! They were prompt, professional, accommodating and easy to work with and created a beautiful video with all the most important moments of our celebration. We would certainly recommend them to any couple looking for a videographer. We didn't think we'd have the budget for a video and decided to do it at the last minute and we never regretted it. One thing to think about it that there will be plenty of photos - through your photographer and friends and family, but nothing quite compares with a live video that shows all the emotions of the day. We highly recommend H&H Studios.

If there was a 6th star I could rate, I would rate Chandler as 6 stars! Chandler filmed one of my magic shows in Atlanta and did a fantastic job. Looking through the footage, the colors and lighting were balanced perfectly and he even filmed the entire event, plus stuff before and after! In addition to his superior film and video skills, he worked as a professional not bothering me while I was setting up or performing, which is a huge deal for me. I've worked with videographers who nag me non-stop about "do you want x" and "Hey can you look and tell me what you think?" With Chandler I knew I could just tell him to film something great, and he pulled through. Would recommend.

I had the pleasure of working with Eugene of Creative Filmz for a wedding in April 2016. I was the wedding planner who had every detail in place. The videographer was added just weeks before the big day...a last minute vendor added by the bride that ended up being my absolute fave vendor. I was also the wedding designer. The way he captured my work took my breath away. His skills were amazing. The cinematography was captivating. And for the price, his services simply will not be beat. As soon as I saw the highlight reel just days after the wedding, I was completely sold. He was punctual and the guests got a kick out of the drone. If you're lucky enough to get on his calendar, you will not be disappointed. As a planner, I certainly have my go-to vendors. He is definitely at the top of my list of videographers. Quality video! Professional vendor! That's Mr. Bussey. I look forward to working with you again soon sir. LB Harper, Wedding Producer Savvy House Weddings & Events Atlanta

Lee Marks and his crew were wonderful! One of my concerns for my daughters wedding was the videographer being intrusive. No worries, with this young man. He was everywhere but we didn't even realize he was there. He was so professional and helpful! Can't wait to see the final product!

We hired Leone Productions to be our wedding videographer. He was one of the first contracts that we signed because his prices were so reasonable and his work was so good that we didn't want him to get away. We got one of his less expensive packages, just to keep the budget in check and we couldn't be happier with the results. We love the video and are so glad we went with Leone Productions. I've seen wedding videos where the brides spent twice as much and didn't have the type of coverage and special touches that Leone Productions was able to offer us. We were able to capture interviews with my grandparents and some other family members, that I know I'll be glad to have in the future. His work really made the wedding come to life on screen.

I have been very impressed with David and Super Story Films. After working with my videographers in the past, David is one of the best I have worked with. From his experience to high quality work to professionalism to the skill of "telling the story" of a respective video, he does a great job. I will definitely use him again.

Today I contacted T2 Digital Productions about videoing my wedding in September. When I first called, Todd was getting ready to go into a meeting. He took my phone number and said he would call me when he got out of his meeting. He promptly called me back. During our call, Todd was very professional, knowledgeable, and was not in a rush while talking to me.. He answered all of my questions, explained how everything works, what services he provided, and what end products I would receive for my money. I feel very comfortable and excited about my choice in T2 Digital Productions and Todd as my videographer

I cannot be any happier/proud with the work that Jaron presented to us after the event. :) He provided me with not only high quailty, edited and professional pictures but the most stunning video for the entire event! He recommended a highlight video and he was some how able to capture all the pictures and a video at the same time, which i know from a background in the industry, is quite hard to do. He is very efficient and great at what he does. :) From the beginning, Jaron was the most professional in his prompt responsiveness at all times. If I had any questions and concerns, Jaron replied quickly and was even nice enough to work around any last minute changes. The day of the event, he not only showed up earlier than his start time, but was also so understanding and patient to even help with last minute changes, where he was still able to incorporate into his pictures and video. Even after the final video, he was so kind to even make some changes I suggested, which made me very happy as well as showed that he was very easy to work with. He clearly takes his work very seriously and will perfect it to the clients standards. As the host of the event, my husband and I were very happy with his work as well as his genuine and helpful personality. The couple we kept the event for were absolutely delighted with his work as well as other guests that attended also, and were willing to hire him for several events in the future. So, we will happy to see him again in the future as a photographer/videographer we can depend on. Again, I can't be any happier than I already am about Jaron's professionalism and quality of work. Coming from a background in the wedding industry as an event planner, I would highly recommend Jaron to photograph and video any event as his work is exemplary. :) Thank you again Jaron. We will definitely be in touch for the next event. :)

They did a wonderful job. We are so pleased to hire them. Their punctuality and quality of service is awesome. They arrived on-time with their best guys with best equipment on our event. I have already decided that they will be taking care of our next future events as well. Their service fee was within my budget, their service quality was beyond my expectations - what else can I ask for! I am also planning for a family videography by them. He is a very nice guy. He kindly addressed and tried his best to accommodate all my requests. They are awesome and their cinematography is wonderful. I am so happy that finally I found a budget friendly and high quality videographers. Highly highly recommend them. Can't wait to hire them again.

Adrianna did a wonderful job photographing my son’s first birthday party. She was very sweet and sensitive to our family’s needs in the ways we wanted the final outcome to look like and how it was to be posted. She is a true professional and I would love to have her on future projects for both personal family projects and for work in my own profession.

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have been able to have with a videographer. The quality of the film, the technology, and the professionalism were all there.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
