I have had an excellent experience using Above Grade Educational Services. Jocelyn has been very helpful and responsive in helping me to set up my tutoring and my tutor, Fio, has been excellent. Each session with her is helpful and works to build on my skills and she is responsive to any questions or requests I have for extra practice. Grateful I found this company!

I tried to study and practice on my own for the GRE, but after I got my terrible scores back I knew I needed tutoring. My tutor was always punctual (often earlier than I was!) and thoughtfully prepared for our sessions based on my needs. I did poorly in the GRE quant section, so we worked on improving my confidence and speed (a lot of focus on strategy) doing GRE math problems. After re-taking the test, I scored 9 points higher! Obviously, I had to work hard to get these results, but a huge chunk of my success is because of my tutor.

We found Robert in the middle of the school year in 2014. Our 8 year old son was having a very challenging time with math, and his father and I were not able to assist him without us all ending up beyond frustrated. Robert is soft spoken, kind, patient, encouraging an effective! Our sons grades have improved, and he comes home from school telling us that math is easier for him than it used to be! We would highly recommend Robert to any parent considering a math tutor for their student.

My daughter always seemed to have panic attacks leading up to tests. I was desperate to find a way for her to be comfortable especially as SATs were coming up. All I can say is after a few weeks with the tutors and life coaches at Chelsea International Education, my daughter’s confidence level went up a lot. She was not only prepared to take her SATs but her core academic skills have improved tremendously, which has helped her with her AP exams. The fact that all of the Chelsea tutors are fully qualified teachers, I think makes a major difference and really sets them apart. It really is a quality service and I am very happy to recommend them to anyone.

Kellae is a lovely lady that nurtures and possess an extraordinary level of patience; she is extremely knowledgeable and very warmhearted; my daughter waits impatiently for her arrival for each session. Our experience with Kellae has been remarkable. She has proven her gift of teaching through her energy and creativeness. She is helping my daughter improve her writing skills by teaching her how to correctly write a thesis, use transitional and descriptive words, and strengthen her research skills. Also, Kellae is very patient, energetic, and is full of suggestions and is willing to try many different approaches to help understand topics that are difficult. Kellae takes the time to send my daughter helpful resources to aid in my daughters studying beyond our sessions and is sincerely enthusiastic when she makes progress in her studying habits. Kellae is just whom my daughter needs to take her to the next level in her education. She is kind and attentive, and my daughter has been very receptive to her from the first time we met. Charles Justus Garard, Jr. PhD I have known Dr. Garard for approximately 28 years and worked with him as a colleague, teaching at the college level from 1989 until 2003. During my association with Dr. Garard, I have observed his expertise not only in teaching and mentoring but also in his writing skills. He was exceptional at proofreading several of my documents and manuscripts, as well as offering other colleagues writing and literary assistance. In addition to his regular college teaching duties, he taught English as a second language on weekends to students in several minority communities in Atlanta. He traveled to China as a professor in English language, literature, and writing, where he served for seven (7) years. Dr. Garard has demonstrated an outstanding talent with the English language and is an invaluable asset to both writers and editors. Please feel free to contact me if I can offer further insight into Dr. Garard’s gifted abilities. Donald W. Blair 404-375-1435

    About

I have a Bachelor of Arts' degree in English. I believe that teaching is more than imparting knowledge – it is inspiring change. Good teaching fosters sense of student control over learning and interest in the subject matter. I create learning tasks appropriate to the student’s level of understanding. I also recognize the right the uniqueness of individual learners and avoid the temptation to impose “mass production” standards that treat all learners as if they were exactly the same. In order for learning to occur, students need to connect to their own prior knowledge. Connections are like building bridges between the old and new. This building bridge can be brief or in-depth as long as it serves the needs of all learners. Reassessment determines prior knowledge whereas connections provides the link between old knowledge and new knowledge. I have been teaching AP Spanish and English for 20 years including two years at the middle school level. Each student learns differently and I always adjust my methods in order to get the best results from each learner. 98% of my students raised their English / Spanish AP grade from D to A; you/your child can, too. The role of a tutor is to help the student help himself. Tutoring is the short term answer to help the student gain confidence and learning skills. In other words, my objective is more than rote learning; it is about making connections to the real world. I include appropriate character development with real world connections with every lesson. Overall, I am trained to differentiate any lesson through scaffolding techniques, as well as rigorous assessment, making sure to present appropriate and leveled instruction. I look forward to meeting your student to see if we have an academic fit.
