We started Thumbtack over 10 years ago based on a simple observation: why was it so hard to hire a plumber? There were tons of great local professionals, but everyone had a story about struggling to find someone to hire. It became our obsession to solve this problem.
Fast forward to today: our marketplace helps millions of people find and hire the right pro from our community of 300,000 local service businesses.
Introducing our Pro Advisory Board
With more than 10 million 5-star projects and counting, our ambition is to help small businesses grow and homeowners accomplish more. That’s why today I’m proud to announce our first-ever Pro Advisory Board.
Our inaugural group of Pro Advisors are as diverse as the professionals on our platform — spanning industries, locations, and backgrounds. They will elevate the voices of our pro community and ensure these voices have a direct line to Thumbtack leaders and teams building the products that fuel their growth. Together our new Pro Advisors will help us understand and improve the pro experience on Thumbtack so that they can better serve their customers and grow more profitably.
Throughout the year, our Pro Advisory Board will provide regular feedback on our product and partnership, everything from new features we should prioritize to how their business can run more efficiently, as well as insight on broader industry challenges they face. This feedback from pros who use Thumbtack day in and day out will be critical for us to continually improve.
What’s more, as leaders in our Thumbtack pro community, our Pro Advisors will also serve as mentors to other Thumbtack pros. Amid the worrying labor shortage in the skilled trades and today’s bumpy economic environment, they will help to provide advice on ways pros can scale their business, attract more customers and improve overall operations.
About Our New Pro Advisors
Thumbtack’s Pro Advisory Board is made up of 13 of our top pros from cities across the country who specialize in home categories ranging from landscaping to HVAC to plumbing. These pros have not only built and grown successful businesses on Thumbtack, they’re also community leaders who are ambitious, and excited to help fellow small business owners grow. This group has spanned all 50 states, earned over 5,000 5-star reviews, and offers services in over 50 categories.

Our inaugural Pro Advisory Board brings together some of our most successful pros to help us become the best version of ourselves. Over the next few months, our Pro Advisors will be meeting with teams across the company to provide input on near-term and long-term initiatives. They’ll also participate in mentoring opportunities within the Thumbtack pro community and beyond. We are excited about the impact they’ll have on Thumbtack and on the pros who trust us to help grow their business.
