Introduction
I’ve been working in the trades for approximately 8 years. While specialties lie in trim carpentry, drywall, and paint, I am more than capable of taking care of other tasks as well. I don’t claim to be the cheapest nor the fastest. But I stand by the quality of my work and strive for the best out of every project.

I needed help with installing the shiplap boards around my powder room walls. Kendrick did an amazing job in this small space. He was precise, thorough and exceeded my expectations! I plan to reach out again for future projects.

Kendrick did a fantastic job replacing our deck stairs. His construction work is a big upgrade to the original installation. He also did a few other small jobs for us, and the quality was great all around. I look forward to working with him in the future on additional projects. Update I had Kendrick several more times where he repaired loose staircase rails, painted my entire kitchen ceiling, and installed a custom-built bucket holder for my nonprofit's Delivery van. Of course still good work as always.

Kendrick worked so hard for two days doing various projects (screen repair, cutting doors, painting). His work is precise and clean. His prices are fare and you can tell he really cares about his skill. I would definitely hire him again.

Engaged the Plain Painter to help repair some water damage to our front entryway. We had some wood rot affecting the front finishing near our sidelights, and some gapping and damaged caulking. The job needed finesse and our hope was to avoid what could have been a $15k removal/replacement of our entire entry feature. The work done was outstanding, and though the price was not inexpensive, the quote was fair and the work completed in two days. The result is nearly flawless, and to a visitor they would never know that a repair was done. Even with us knowing exactly where and what was damaged, we would need to scrutinize to see any evidence, and might not notice it at that. From my initial contact to appearance on job-site was only 1-2 business days. While I would likely save engagement of the Plaid Painter to finish work that needs high attention to detail and quality, if those are the traits of interest this is a solid choice.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically, I start with a brief consultation of the work needing to be done. Generally I recommend that a new customer take plenty of photos of the respective areas or design and give a rough estimate, from there I make a determination as to whether an in person estimate is required to give a more accurate price, assess damage for any potentially future problems or getting better idea of the size and scope

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Scope and details. Major change orders can have a significant affect the timetable and cost of a project. Having the details and scope of project decided on before hand can keep the final bill lower and timetables met. For example deciding on a niche in a shower before the project begins means that material can be decided on, purchased, and factored into the labor price of the initial estimate. However if decided on in the middle of the job, not only is there the potential for a delay in the delivery of materials on the supplier side, the extra labor (to demo freshly installed material to make room) and potential complications makes the overall price of the niche more expensive.
