FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Before I became a hardwood floor technician in the late 80's I was a courtesy clerk at a large well known grocery store. I did enjoy my job at the grocery store because I had many opportunities throughout my day to interact with many customers. The one thing I felt I was lacking was some good old fashioned hard work. I was offered an enrty level position at the premier hardwood floor company in my area. I took the position in 1989 and have never looked back since. I have the good fortune of having been trained by some of the best hardwood floor techicians in the country. I intend to pass this knowledge on to the next generation with the hopes that this trade will continue on for generations to come.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Our most common job type(s) would be New installs, sand & re-finish old floors and maintenance coats on recent floors. Many jobs require us to remove and dispose of existing carpet, vinyl and in some cases old hardwood that is beyond its service life.We also offer floor maintenance cleaning tips and demonstrations on the do's and dont's of how to care for their investment. The majority of our work is re-finishing because the new home sales have slowed a bit but people are investing money into the home they are currently living in. As new home sales increase, we will see an increase in new construction install, sand and finish.
