Introduction: I’m an independent personal trainer, primarily located at Breakthrough Personal Training on the Boise Bench. I have a strong passion for helping people achieve their potential and my whole career has been built around being the best coach I can be. I work with people of all ages and athletic abilities, primarily through resistance training, to increase health and performance. I use scientifically-backed strength and conditioning principles and incorporate specific rehabilitation exercises as needed to meet an individual's goals. My focus is on quality over quantity, as I limit my number of sessions per week so I can be 100% present for every session and put in the extra hours to write comprehensive programs for my clients.

Galen helped me build a strong body-without injury (unlike a previous trainer). He is knowledgable, gives good feedback, varies the workout. Just generally a great experience. I just was able to lift a 50# bag in my yard and felt good doing it!!

I've worked with Galen as a trainer for nearly a year. He has been consistently excellent in helping me pursue my strength and mobility goals. He's a great listener and is clearly very knowledgeable about exercise. I consider all of my sessions with Galen to be money well spent.

I’ve had Galen as my trainer for over a year now and I’m 82 years old. He knows so much and is patient and kind all the time. He’s helped me greatly on several distinct problems; my left knee and my shoulder flexibility. I’ve been working with Galen on a strength training program for about 8 months now. My initial goals were to strengthen my core so that my back would be stronger and I’d stop injuring it when I play pickleball. In a few months time, I’ve made some amazing gains in core strength, but also stronger muscles all over. Galen is very qualified to act as a coach with his background in kinesiology and exercise science. He identifies where your weaknesses are and focuses on building a program around those, while incorporating a variety of exercises that strengthen your body overall. I think it’s absolutely essential for older women to add strength training to their regular exercise. It’s such an important part of being optimally healthy in all stages of your life.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Due to my focus on quality over quantity, the success achieved by my clients, and my high level of education, my prices are higher than average in the area. I offer discounts for large packages of sessions and long-time clients.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have a Master's degree in Kinesiology and I am a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

    I work with a wide range of clients. I spent several years as a tennis coach and a strength and conditioning coach working with high level junior and college athletes. These days I primarily train adults and some teens looking to feel better and perform in daily life and sports. I often work with people with special conditions such as cancer, pregnancy, osteoporosis, and diabetes.
