Oxi Fresh is the best! Perfessionalism and price affordable. I felt comfortable having the tech in my home. He explained and looked over everything, thoroughly. I have 2 dogs and kids. A lot of foot traffic and spills. Oxi Fresh made my carpet like new again. I even had my sectional sofa and area rugs done. Spring cleaning at its finest. I was also pleased to hear they clean hardwood and tile. I'm telling family/friends to use Oxi Fresh in future!

4 weeks ago I experienced a house fire and lost everything I own, including my beloved dog. I was able to quickly find a beautiful new construction townhome. The contractors did a little bit of a rush job and there were paint spots all throughout the flooring of the home. The task of getting paint out of laminate wood was not an easy one but Tyrone consulted with me, got my approval for the work that needed to be done, and forged ahead. He worked tirelessly to get out each little spot and the floors came out beautifully!! These are the kinds of things that help get through tragic situations..when you come across good people that have your back and want to help make your new place feel like home. Thanks Tyrone!! I'm in awe of your work!

He was very easy to get a hold of and communicate with. When he came by, he was very personable and knowledgeable. It explained the issue with our tile in our shower and kept the repairs minimal and for a reasonable price. Overall I could not have asked for better experience.

Working with Chad through our latest project in our home my husband and I were really pleased with Chads suggestions and how he gave us the options of the high and low cost of how to do the project for the best price. We had our countertops replaced a backsplash installed and two types of flooring with tile and laminate throughout the main level of our home. I would recommend them in the future for a great job!

We called Mike to install a Tile floor in our kitchen (approximately 250 square feet). Mike showed up on time, gave us a fair estimate and began working shortly after. Mike did an outstanding job and exceeded our expectations. He worked quickly and finished the project in less than 3 days. The quality of work was awesome and we've received several compliments from family and friends. If you're looking for someone to assist you with your flooring needs, I'd highly recommend Mike and MB Installations for the job

Randy was a pleasure to work with. His price was competitive and the quality of his work was outstanding. Randy was punctual, thorough and helpful with respect to educating us on the ceramic floor tiling work he performed. We discovered, in talking with Randy, that he is a handyman, and we fully intend to give him a call with any of our future needs. Randy is a very personable, trustworthy contractor, something I often cannot say about others with whom I've interacted. He is a pleasure to talk with throughout the job, and he genuinely is not trying to overcharge you. He offers a reasonable and competitive price, and he follows it up with excellent work. I think anyone would find him to be the type of contractor with whom you'd always want to work.

He just finished some laundry room work for us and we couldn't be happier. We've always done all of our own work before because we were seldom happy with the quality of "professionals" work, but crawling around isn't as easy as it used to be before two titanium knees. He took up old floor, laid cement board and porcelain tiles; moved plumbing fixtures; repaired and painted walls and ceiling; and hung a new door. Hard worker, very knowledgeable, and very competent and precise. Clean up was exceptional. Would use him again for any project.

Yury can fix or build anything. His most recent project was rebuilding my deteriorating wooden fence. It now looks like new, the project was completed ahead of time and within budget. Other work in the past included built-in shelves, rehabbing old furniture, and re-wiring old lamps. All work has been highly satisfactory.

I found Rob to be a man of his word on whatever job he did for me. I had hardwood floors installed and he did an excellent job plus he cleans up after himself. I also had him finish my lower level, which included a bedroom, a bathroom, bar and family room. His tile work was some of the best I've seen and again very neat.

Earlier this year my house caught on fire. My home needed a full demolishion and overhaul. I hired Ollie (Oliver) McDowell as my contractor. Ollie did the full job from top to bottom including new roof, new walls, new windows, doors, new floors, new walls, fully primed and painted, new cabnets in both kitchen and bathroom. Ollie hand tiled my back splash in both the kitchen and bathroom. New Tub, toilet, and sink. New floors including carpeting, He had my home re-wired, new heating and aircondition.....etc. Ollie stucked within his time frame that was quoted on the bid. Ollie used good quality material in my house and put his personal professional touch in as well. You name it he did it. If there was something he could have done better, I never saw, because everything and ALL my encounters during the reconstruction was perfessional. Ollie is the most perfessional contractor you will ever want to use for your services. I would recommend Ollie on a scale from 1 - 10, with 10 being perfect I would rate him a perfect 10!! He is most definitly a professional contractor!!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

    • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
      • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.
