Pat worked with our college freshman son and was instrumental in getting us through a tough first year. Pat went above and beyond in every way to support our son which was a tremendous relief forparents who felt helpless in a difficult situation. Pat is a genuine person and was immediately personally invested in our son and us. We've received great feedback from educators, family, even the pediatrician in choosing a life coach to support our son through such an important and demanding phase of life. Pat is excellent with young adults and parents of young adults. We cannot recommend Pat highly enough!

I was never sure that a personal trainer would be right for me. They can be intimidating and I wasn't crazy about intimidating gym equipment and costly gym memberships. But 360 Fit and Andrew have been a life changer for me!! Very very reasonably priced. And He knows the right dose of challenge based on individual fitness level and keeps it so I want to come back!! I look forward to my workouts!!! As a mom of an almost 3 year old and a 4 year old it had been years since I'd worked out and I wanted my health back but I just couldn't get motivated. After one workout with Andrew I felt super challenged but not defeated. And I had felt amazing results in just the first month. I am 3 months in now and have never felt stronger in my life even with past workout plans. I love the way workouts are structured and the fact that he keeps it fun with lots of variety. 350 Fit has definitely changed me for the best!!

In mid-September, Positively Naperville received a letter to the editor from Loren Michaels Harris regarding an NPR.org story about the Ohio police release of graphic overdose photos featured on Sept. 12, 2016. As publisher of the hyper local monthly publication in a city focused on fighting addictions and drug abuse of all kinds, I was struck by Loren’s thoughtful, timely and meaningful words, especially as they related to local initiatives such as “Connect for Life,” “KidsMatter,” and Project H.E.L.P. His reference to being a motivational speaker and his never-ending story of survival prompted my wondering about a presentation to our Rotary Club of Naperville-Downtown. Our small Rotary club is always looking for 30-minute programs. Speakers are invited to present educational topics such as the one addressed in his letter. We talked, we met, Loren agreed and the date was set for Oct. 26. Though electronics failed to connect that afternoon, preventing members from viewing Loren’s video introduction, he punted ably, landed on his feet and started from the very beginning of his 54 years. The trials and tribulations that have contributed to Loren’s strength of character and determination live within an engaging story of surviving one birth mother, one adoptive mother, and 20 foster mothers. Against so many obstacles, Loren is a survivor of the foster care system who says his only source of continual healing from the scars of foster care comes from addressing the need for better protection of all children, especially from social media, neighbor to neighbor. Rotarians experienced a very compelling presentation by a man who appears to be at home with his powerful story, one that needs to be told over and over—with or without the video introduction.

I have known Amera McCoy for almost 4 years now and I can say without a doubt that she is the best executive coach I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Amera McCoy is a superb executive coach who builds relationships with her clients to get results, rather than approaching it as just another business transaction. Our interaction began in class when I started my doctoral program in Business Psychology. After getting to know her professional background and seeing her vast knowledge exhibited, I decided to reach out on a more formal note. She has helped and coached me through some of the challenging moment in my career and remains a friend, confidant, and (she doesn’t know yet) mentor years later. She brings the same passion and expertise to a group situation that she did for me one-on-one. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in either occasion Amera has a great sense of humor and tremendous life/professional experiences that she leveraged when working with me individually and with my teams.

I don't know where to begin... Ashley helped me plan out my entire career path from my first year of college all the way to the day I received the offer letter from the employer. She doesn't only help you establish your career path she helps you rationally breakdown all the milestones you'll need to hit in order to accomplish your personal career goals. All in all, I owe many thanks to Ashley for my career growth. Without her expertise and advice I would not be in the position I am in today.

KeriAynn provided care for my Husband who suffers from Alzheimer’s while I got away for a much needed break. She was amazing! Her knowledge about the disease, and ability to communicate with him were extraordinary. He absolutely adored her. Charlie was easily agitated, but KeriAynn had a very calming effect on him. She was extremely responsive to his needs and cared for him with a level of professionalism and compassion that is not easily found in a Caregiver. She could not have been more suited to care for the love of my life. Rhunette Humrich

I will forever be indebted to Sarah for all the things she has done for me. I would recommend anyone that wants to turn their life around to work with Sarah and trust what she says because she has exceptional skills as a therapist. DBT/Mindfulness has change my life so much. If you are willing to put the work in you can do amazing things with your life. You do not have to stay in the same. What if cycles of life. I don't even take medication anymore and I use mindfulness and meditation too. It is never too late and I am using the skills Sarah taught me and they work. I have been using Mindfulness now for over 2 years and I am happy to say that it has changed my life. A couple years ago I was going to end my life but then I met Sarah and I am in such a better place. I would recommend Sarah to anyone. You are in control of your destiny, so make the most of it. Darick is extremely knowledgeable and tailors the work out to what suits you the best. His understanding of anatomy ensures that you train your weaker areas in parallel without causing any discomfort (I am an older individual). I have never looked or felt better because of Darrick's tutelage.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
