Brooks worked with me on snare drum, drum set, and mallet percussion. He helped me prepare for concert band and jazz band auditions at my high school. Brooks was always very organized and punctual and would even go overtime on certain lessons without charging me extra. The lessons took place in his home studio where he had just about every percussion instrument you could imagine! Brooks has a very laid back, relaxed, but professional approach, and a proven teaching method. His teaching style is very theory based and he provides tons of supplemental material. I highly recommend him for serious percussion study!

Brooks is currently teaching me jazz piano voicings and how to read/understand a fake book. Before I came to him for lessons, I was confused about jazz and how to make chords move from one to another. I highly recommend him for piano instruction and can easily say that my piano skills have at least doubled in just a few lessons.

Brooks was one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. Aside from being an excellent percussionist, Brooks goes the extra mile to make sure you have the best possible experience as a musician, his love for percussion is infectious. When we first started working together in 2008 I didn't know how to hold a stick, let alone read music. Now it is 2014 and I am attending a university on scholarship for percussion, and Brooks had a lot to do with that! No matter what your goals are, Brooks can help you achieve them.

Brooks is the "all around" teacher. He is an expert in his field. He is well organized. He is relational and really cares about his students progressing and being successful. My son greatly improved under his tutelage. We highly recommend him as your next teacher!

Drum Lessons (for children or teenagers)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Music Theory and Piano lessons are $65/hour - $40/half hour Drum/Percussion lessons are $75/hr - $40/half hour

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

It was the only interest I ever had, as far as a career.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure the instructor you hire is accomplished, both in their education level, and their performance/teaching history. Anyone can teach music lessons, but it takes a skilled educator to enable and inspire you to learn the instrument the right way, the first time.
