Introduction: Stephen Byer has been a private tutor since 2005. Born and raised in the Chicago area, he received a BA with Honors from DePaul University in 2006, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Communications. He received a MA in Psychology from National-Louis University in April 2015. He uses his academic training in learning theory and interpersonal communication, combined with his extensive tutoring experience, to help countless student gain acceptance into top schools of their choice.
Steve worked for a national private tutoring company for two years before establishing his independent tutoring business in 2007. During that time, he had a 100% success rate in improving students' ACT/SAT scores by a contractually guaranteed amount, and demonstrated his proficiency in working with students who had poor results with previous tutors. Today, he works with students all over the Chicagoland area to improve their results for entrance exams and academic tests, as well as offering generalized academic preparation services.
Steve also has extensive experience working with students with special needs:
* Developing study plans for students with learning differences such as dyslexia and ADHD, including students with 504 Plans or IEP's
* ELL and ESL students
* Coaching for students who experience test-taking anxiety
* Working with neurodiverse students, such as those diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome
