Introduction: With over 10 years of experience teaching violin in Utah, Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Corie has found that no matter the age or level, all students can succeed at the violin. All it takes is the desire to learn and a nurturing environment. Corie’s students have ranged from ages 4 to 70. Corie received her Suzuki Training under the tutelage of Judy Bossuat-Gallic and Edward Kreitman. She currently teaches at The People's Music School and privately at her home in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago. "It brings me so much joy to see my students work diligently on a piece of music and then bravely perform it in front of family and friends at studio recitals. I can see in their eyes and their countenance a sense of pride and confidence that they didn't have when they first began taking lessons. Learning the violin not only teaches one to play an instrument. It builds self-esteem, teaches the value of hard work, and enables a new way of communicating with the world." -Corie S. Eliason

Corie was my daughter’s first private violin teacher, and she was the perfect foundation for not just the love of the instrument but also the precise technique and skills needed to develop a true musician. Even years later, my daughter’s current teachers are impressed with the solid foundation she received under Corie’s tutelage. Corie made learning a challenging instrument fun at an age-appropriate level without giving up on any high standards. Whether it was learning to read music, developing ear and intonation, or perfecting a bow hold, Corie had multiple ways to teach, to address habits and difficulties, and to share experiences with the larger studio in group lessons. We still use her teaching reminders and phrases during practices sessions. With Corie’s violin lessons, you get more than just basic instruction; you get a surprisingly well-rounded introduction to true musicianship.

“Ms. Corie is an excellent Suzuki teacher with an outstanding musical background. My daughter learned a lot during a year of lessons with her before she moved out to continue studying for her masters degree in music. She is fun and yet very patient. She was always prepared to teach her classes and made my daughter comfortable in each lesson. She made learning music easy and fun at the same time by playing games. I also loved the group classes she provided where every student got to play their solos/duets and give feedback to each other. Ms. Corie also performed at the end of group classes which was always a treat for everyone, but made my daughter motivated to practice more to get better. What I loved about Ms. Corie is that she cared about her students learning. She was also very dedicated and wants the best for her students. She was truly an inspiration to our family especially for my daughter. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher than Ms. Corie. I highly recommend her.” Grace Burns

Corie was an exceptional teacher for our family. My two young daughters and myself (adult beginner) studied with her for nearly 2 years before she moved out of the area. She was extremely organized, prepared for classes, and patient with my occasionally difficult daughter – showing great care and patience coupled with clear expectations. It was a truly positive experience. Corie is a uniquely gifted Suzuki teacher and performer. She cares a great deal for her students and also has an exceptional musical background. Lessons were well paced, group classes provided practice in performing and overall musical skills. Just can’t say enough good about her studio.

Corie is an amazing violin teacher! Corie taught my 2 boys for 1.5 years when they were just beginning violin. I am so grateful that she made it such a treasured experience and that 3 years later they still delight in playing. I think that her ability to really connect with each of them is what helped them to really enjoy the instrument and delight in playing. She is a remarkable violinist, teacher and has a heart of gold.
