Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My violin studio consists of adults and children of all ability levels. I trained in pedagogy at Oberlin Conservatory and Northwestern University, where I earned my BM and MM degrees, respectively, and I use a blend of Suzuki materials and outside etudes and repertoire with all of my students. My lessons also include learning to read music when applicable, and beginning aural skills/transcription work for interested students. For my younger students, I typically stick to the Suzuki repertoire through Book I and start supplementing with Music by Black Composers Violin Volume I once the student is comfortable reading notated music. For my adult students, I typically work through a more technical foundation approach with a heavier focus on scales and etudes until the student is familiar with the instrument, and then introduce Suzuki and other material as is appropriate. I am experienced in teaching remote lessons, and have used distance learning techniques many times before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Remote lessons require the student to have access to a device equipped with FaceTime or Zoom capabilities.
