Introduction
Welcome to my page! My name is Michael, and I have been teaching Violin for over 10 years. I hold a MBU in Violin Performance from The University of Utah, and masters level education in early childhood string pedagogy. I have held positions at The Madleine Choir School, American Preparatory Academy, and Salty Cricket Composers Collective's El Sistema Programs. Teaching is one of my greatest passions. I love working with students of all ages and backgrounds. My lessons are fun, dynamic, and custom tailored to each student's goals. I also employ movement and mindfulness in my studio to help students connect with their instrument and maximize practice. To learn more about me, please visit my website, listed in my profile.

There are so many reasons why Michael is the best violin instructor! He provides a very positive, fun environment that is full of constructive (and very polite) teaching. He understands the frustration of a new student and gives a steady stream of reinforcement that you're making progress, even when you feel nothing but frustration. He offers nothing but a welcoming environment regardless of what kind of violin you have, what kind of music you want to play, etc. I firmly believe in his desire to share a love of the violin with his students and nurture their paths in whatever musical direction they may go.In addition to his amazing teaching style, he is incredibly flexible with scheduling and very reasonably priced.I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who wants to become a better musician, regardless of age or skill level.

Michael has been a terrific instructor, helping an older guy like me pick up and begin a new journey playing music. His willingness to conduct lessons where I live is an additional bonus; very convenient!

I worked with Michael for approximately 10 months in the Salt Lake City area as a beginner. Although I had taken lessons at multiple times throughout life, it had been easily 30 years since I last took lessons. We worked well together and I was sad to see him leave the area. I strongly recommend Michael for any age player. He is very encouraging and never pushy. At my age, I was not looking to become a pro, I just wanted to bring music back into my life, so I preferred a more relaxed approach from a teacher.

Michael is a ridiculously good teacher! He's really intuitive; he will adapt your training to what suits you and where you're struggling, rather than following a rigid pre-planned structure. And, he's a lot of fun.
