Mr. Ofer Tsemah on 06 March 2016 performed an entire cleaning of all of my air duct supply vents, return vents, and dryer vent (19 total) in my home. He was very professional and explained every step. Mr. Ofer further explained preventative maintenance for future long lasting efficiency. My furnace was inspected and cleaned as well. Clean air doctors are highly recommended and I definitely will contact this business for future duct cleaning services. Thank you Clean Air Doctors. Sincerely Joe H. Chicago

My experience with Sam and Rapid Air far exceeded my expectations. He was on time for his appointment, friendly, courteous and completely professional. He did a thorough inspection of my clothes dryer and accurately identified the problem. He not only replaced the defective part, but completely cleaned the inside and outside of the dryer and all the related duct work leading to the outside of the house. He even replaced the exhaust hose in the back of the dryer as part of his service. Sam took great pains to be respectful of my house and property. Even though went outside and came back in multiple times while cleaning the duct work and had much of dryer taken apart in order to do the repair, he left my laundry room as clean or cleaner than it was before he arrived. The price he charged was very fair and the service was great. I would highly recommend Rapid Air to everyone. Thank you Sam.

After buying our first home, we didn't expect the transition to be so HARD! It's a good thing that there are good people out there that understand the position people like me are in. Air Duct Cleaning Group, came to my home and cleaned out (what seemed like) 20 YEARS of dust, dirt and pet fur from our ventilation system. They are TRULY a group of people that understood and respected my frustration! I will 100% call them back for any other HVAC services I may need. You should too! Thanks ADCG! My family and I TRULY appreciate it!

Dion was BEYOND fantastic!!!He responded almost immediately after i posted the job, and he was at my house less than an hour after he and I spoke on the phone. Dion fixed the issue with my AC and was very patient and knowledgeable when explaining everything to me. While he was working on my AC, I mentioned that i was fairly certain my air ducts were full of dust from a recent home renovation & probably needed to be cleaned. Dion gave me a reasonable quote to clean them, and I was going to talk it over with my husband that week and would be in touch to schedule it for a later date. However Dion took extra time after completing the AC job to examine my vents. After inspecting them, he told me that they really were not that bad, and he didn’t think they needed to be cleaned at this point. What an HONEST GUY! He could have easily taken advantage of the situation and made a quick buck off of me, but he didn’t!!! He was completely HONEST & clearly wanted what was in the best interest for me and my home. We will definitely be using Dion again!

I usually do not write reviews but I think Shaul Services deserves one. I have contacted the company to get my air duct system cleaned. Sam, the technician, was very polite and professional. He took his time to explain me what exactly and how it would be done. I also got free furnace cleaning. The price was fair, fast and professional service. Would recommend!

Had the crew out to perform a "true" and "complete" duct cleaning, as well as dryer vent and chimney sweep. Don't fall for ads in the weekly flyer for cleaning at $100. You get what you pay for and these guys were top notch!!!!! House is noticeably different after their work pertaining to air quality! Keep up the great and honest work!!!!

United Air crew just finished the installation of a furnace, air conditioner, and humidifier, and I could not be more satisfied with their work. From start to finish, this has to be one of the best home improvement experiences I have had. Alec was totally honest in providing an estimate, something that does not always happen. (One of the companies we had out for an estimate tried to sell us a unit that was significantly larger than the other companies suggested.) United Air work came highly recommended and the price was quite a bit lower than the other estimates we received. The work was completed on time by workers who were knowledgeable, efficient, polite, and respectful of our home. When they were done, they checked that the furnace worked well as did the air conditioner.

A+ service. I had 15 vents cleansd. HVAC Coil. Sanitizer done for all of the ventilation system. plus Dryer Vent. All for a flat price $249.00 They did offer 100% Money Back Guarantee. So I knew they had to stand by their work. 4 yrs ago we hired a low cost company and they came in and hit us with all these extra charges saying their cost only included 10 vents cleaning and just 1 return. Then they sharhed us $149 fir coil cleaning and I was pissed. 9.99 for sanitizing / per passage. It added up to several hundred dollars and their advertising was $49. Unreal. BEWARE of "Blow and Go" companies outthere. Lowe's on the other hand was extremely professional. No up-charge, no up-sale. Very transparent from start to finish. Their technician Mike was very throurough, friendly and experienced. I highly recommend Lowe's Air Duct Cleaning Services to everyone!!!

Power Cleaning Pro just cleaned my section couch and carpet and did a great job. Cleaning technicians were professional, on time, polite and considerate. Literally every odor that had built up over the winter was removed, leaving the air quality cleaner than ever before and the carpet and upholstery fabric soft to the touch. I would have to recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch job at an honest price.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

    • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
    • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
    • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
    • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
    • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
    • Ductwork properly protected.
    • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

    • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
      • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
      • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
      • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
    • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
    • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
