An absolutely wonderful teacher. Not only did he put his 100% into every lesson, he reignited my love for the cello. He made me want to practice every single day, just to make him proud. We did lessons remote and in person, and never once did I notice a single drop in quality of his teaching. He is just a genuinely wonderful teacher, and I have merit to say this because I’ve been through many, many cello instructors, and by far Warren Oja was the top of that list. He pushed me to be the best I could be, and I’ll always remember him as an inspiration.

Warren was a great teacher for me. I’m an odd student, full time touring musician and instead a traditional lesson plan, he helped guide me and hone my cello skills while working on my needed songs for tour. He is fun to work with made virtual work feel authentic and not disconnected. I’d recommend him to anyone learning cello!

We highly recommend Warren Oja if you are seeking a cello teacher to help your young musician further their music skills and love for the cello. Warren is a very accomplished musician and a passionate teacher. He is very patient and connects with his students through sharing his own experiences developing as a musician. One of the qualities we most appreciated and noticed from the first lesson is that he creates a supportive and encouraging learning environment for aspiring musicians by getting to know his students' motivations and adapting his teaching style. When we first started, Warren was very encouraging while quickly identifying what our son needed and working with him on proper techniques that helped him master the materials from the school orchestra. From there, each weekly lesson with Warren helped him build his confidence, find his voice while playing, and advance onto more challenging pieces. Learning and preparing with Warren, our son successfully auditioned and joined the advanced orchestra and will continue to play throughout high school. Warren Oja is not just a cello teacher; he is a mentor who guides, inspires, and shapes the musical journey of his students. The last 5 years have been fun and rewarding and we are grateful to have Warren as our son's cello teacher!

Mr. Warren Oja is a wonderful cello teacher! Our young daughter learned from him for three years and we found him to be incredibly talented, patient, consistent in setting goals, and just the right balance of encouragement and discipline. Our daughter eventually was able to join the Midwest Young Artists Orchestra due to his encouragement and coaching. We highly recommend him for all ages, levels, and temperaments. You will not be disappointed!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I set up a free 10 minute call with prospective students to discuss what their musical background is and to discuss possible goals. This is also an opportunity for the student to ask questions and get a feel for my personality to see if I am a good fit for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-Bachelor's in Music Performance at Western Michigan University -Course study in Music Education at University of Knoxville Tennessee -Received private cello lessons for over 15 years. -Over ten years of experience teaching remote and in person lessons.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started music lessons at the age of eight. The encouragement I received from my private teachers inspired me to work hard and I developed a passion for music. I want to carry on the legacy of my music teachers and create my own. Helping students realize their potential and making them feel proud of their progress is very satisfying to me. It is an honor to play an important role in the personal and musical development of my students.
