Best decision we’ve ever made was going with TLF Services for our furniture assembly project (included shelves, a cabinet system, kitchen table and chairs, bed frame and adjustable bed. We also had him hang a large photo on the wall. The work was done incredibly well. Best value for the dollar!

I had the standard cleaning with some additional cleaning in the kitchen. Everything was so clean at the end. My kitchen sink hasn't been that clean since I moved in and she even put bottles of water in my frig that I had sitting out. It was like having my mother coming out to clean my place. I am very happy with the service.

I was initially a bit hesitant about hiring Green Air Care based upon the yelp reviews... 3 1/2 stars is fairly low in my opinion. However, I did hire them... and I was extremely satisfied with the service provided and would highly recommend them for anyone looking to have their furnace and ductwork cleaned. The whole process was flawless... When I called on the phone for ", the woman who answered provide me a detailed overview of the process, a detailed price quote, and a reasonable timeframe window of when the workers would arrive at my home. A team of two workers came, and they were extremely knowledgeable and polite... They were careful to not drag their ladders across our hardwood floors and not to bump their equipment into our white walls. The whole process took less than two hours, and there were before and after photos taken to show just how much cleaner the ducts were after the process. The workers also replaced my furnace air filters upon my request. Additionally, they noticed that the filter on our humidifier had not been changed and was collecting, I believe, calcium deposits... They recommended a replacement in order to prevent damage, and not to use the humidifier until the new filter was in place. Overall, I was extremely satisfied. Although I received quotes for a lower price, I am definitely comfortable with the service I received for the price paid. For what it's worth, Green Air Care is also NADCA certified, and the lower-priced service providers were not. I should also say that I initially planned to use Stanley Steamers... apparently they can clean ductwork and not just carpets. I had a team come out to give me a quote, but when the actual team came out to do the cleaning, their equipment would not work on my furnace. Needless to say, I was quite annoyed... But that's what I get for trying to hire a carpet cleaning business to clean my HVAC ducts.

Nevenka and her crew were very good. They arrived early and assessed the task at hand. It was a lot of work. The home had 50 years of stuff accumulated and removed; the dirt left behind was significant. Hours later the house is ready to be shown and soon to be sold! Thank you Nevenka and company, well done! I absolutely recommend Nena's Professional Cleaning Services.

I can't say enough about Charletta's response time, as well as a job VERY well done! My sister from Texas did a review a short time ago, and everything she said is ABSOLUTELY true! Charletta became an overnight sensation in our eyes, when she offered her services outside of her regular hours to do an emergency move-in cleaning for us. I have personally hired over 10 or more house cleaning services, for my own house, as well as for my design clients, and NONE of them have measured up to the level that I expect...until now. We plan to use Charletta for all of our properties once they are completed, I will use her for my house, and I will refer her to my clients and friends who are looking for house cleaning. I am a picky customer, so for me to say that she is simply the BEST is big deal...But it's true....She is! This quality of work is rare, so keep up the good work.

Highlights: - By far the most communicative and helpful out of the more than 10 companies I looked at while shopping around for a cleaning service. - Very helpful and responsive in the booking process. - Flexible in the services, as I needed something customized for health/safety reasons (see below). - Fantastic cleaning quality, even going above and beyond the call of duty. - Friendly. - Prompt and professional follow-up for quality control and customer satisfaction. I hired House Keep-Up for a deep clean of my kitchen plus a couple other areas right before my wedding, for my fiancée to move into a very clean place. The kitchen deep clean was critical, because my fiancée has Celiac, so I needed all traces of gluten removed from every nook and cranny of my kitchen for the health and safety of my soon-to-be wife. She has a highly sensitive case of Celiac, so cross contamination of even a crumb getting into her food can make her ill. First, out of the more than 10 companies I contacted or got bids from, HKU was by far the most communicative and easiest to work with. They were very clear and honest in terms of what was or was not included, which made it easy to calculate the value, and developed trustworthiness right away. This is in stark contrast to literally every other company I spoke with, as it was like pulling teeth trying to get the others to clarify what they were or were not willing/able to do. Because of the crucial gluten component, the person I worked with via Thumbtack worked with me to create a custom package (at a highly competitive value) that would ensure a sufficient and safe level of cleanliness for my fiancée. The ease of their booking process already made them stand out far from the rest. Then, the service itself . . . Sandra was the person who cleaned. She was very friendly and worked extremely hard. I walked her through what had been agreed upon, and she listened carefully, and took the Celiac thing very seriously. She did an incredibly thorough job on my kitchen, cleaning every possible corner and doing all the little extra things that made it clear that she really cared. The cleaning time took longer than what the dispatcher had estimated, which was not a problem at all, because Sandra stayed until every last thing was done, and even did a couple extra things just to deliver extra high quality work! Within a half hour of Sandra's departure, a woman from HKU called me to make sure I was happy with the work, saying that she was prepared to send Sandra back if there was anything I felt was not completed. Quite the contrary, I told her: the work was excellent. From their price/package quoting to the service to the follow-up, this company stands out as a stellar option, and if I ever need to hire a cleaning company again, I will use them, and I will recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone who is looking for a cleaning service.

They did a good job with cleaning my dryer vents and were fast- probably about 20 min tops! They were also considerate of our home and took off shoes to walk on carpet to get to my dryer! Both were professional and respectful and exactly did I wanted for the job. They also cleaned up after their work and put things back the way they were. I would hire them again!

We have been using Zita for 7 months since hiring her through Thumbtack in August 2016. Zita is by the far the best cleaning service we have utilized. She is on time, professional, pleasant, and most of all, consistent. I like that we know who is going to be cleaning our house each time they come out; it is always Zita and/or her associate Andrea, who also does an excellent job. I would highly recommend Zita for your house cleaning needs!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.
