I got in touch with Andrew and this company when I needed help to achieve my future career goal as a police officer. Andrew is flexible with scheduling and will do what he can to make it work your schedule as best as he can. The workouts are personalized to what you are in need of and what your personal goal is. As for the workouts themselves, they are intense as well as informative. Andrew does a good job explaining the reason for the workout and what it will benefit. Overall the work that i have put in with Andrew has definitely been a pleasure. -Joe

Wendie was an excellent tutor. Easy to schedule with and found a time and convenient location close to home. My son's score went up several points from the first time he took the ACT (before tutoring). His Reading score had a big increase send his math score went up dramatically too. My son mentioned that the tutoring also helped him in his math class at school. I would definitely hire Wendi again.

Loren Michaels Harris auditioned and won a spot in our cast to read "LOST OR FOUND" in the 2016 Listen to Your Mother: Southwest Michigan show which I produce and co-direct locally. He. Was. Fabulous! Wonderful to work with. Very open to suggested edits and coaching. He is so clear on his message that he speaks off-the-cuff as smoothly and confidently as he reads a prepared piece. He was cool under pressure and absolutely delivered. A consummate professional. I would work with him anytime!

I can't thank Amanda enough for helping me find my way during a difficult time. I was laid off from my job and completely unsure where I wanted to go next. The thought of returning to my industry (insurance) was dreadful...and then I got the idea of finding a career coach to help me figure it out. In comes...Amanda! She was incredibly empathetic and thoughtful the entire time. The process totally worked for me, as I went back to school for graphic design (part time) and moved to the creative industry. Thank you thank you a million for showing me what was inside of me! Amanda is a gem...run to her if you need help!

I don't know where to begin... Ashley helped me plan out my entire career path from my first year of college all the way to the day I received the offer letter from the employer. She doesn't only help you establish your career path she helps you rationally breakdown all the milestones you'll need to hit in order to accomplish your personal career goals. All in all, I owe many thanks to Ashley for my career growth. Without her expertise and advice I would not be in the position I am in today.

Darick is extremely knowledgeable and tailors the work out to what suits you the best. His understanding of anatomy ensures that you train your weaker areas in parallel without causing any discomfort (I am an older individual). I have never looked or felt better because of Darrick's tutelage.

She has empowered and inspired thousands to find their authentic voice and claim and create and commit to living the life of their dreams. She has had the privilege of coaching both the developing artists as well as internationally recognized names. Her journey began in New York City, where as a young actress working in stage and TV, she facilitated and taught small groups on acting technique and how to breaking into the business without losing yourself. Her own career took her to LA where she spent 20 years in Hollywood as an accomplished writer, producer, director and star of TV and film. It was in California that she firmly developed her powerful intuitive ability to assist artists and became known as a creative midwife. As her coaching clientele grew, she slowly surrendered her own acting career to be more fully present to helping others soar. Her attention turned to adding spiritual technologies to her offerings, and in 2005, she became a fully licensed spiritual counselor. Her license and training from the United Centers for Spiritual Living is a nationally recognized certification. In 2008, she was hired by World Ministry of Prayer in LA to support individuals from around the world by using the healing power of prayer. In 2009, she was hired as the Director of Sacred Circles for the Bodhi Spiritual Center in Chicago where she helped groom and support new spiritual leaders. Under her watch, the program tripled its size in 2 years. Her philosophy is steeped in the idea that spirituality and creativity are synonymous. Authenticity and humor are the pillars of her ministry. She is the creator of a monthly story-and-song night that provides the community with an opportunity to experience the healing nature of stories. Along with supporting artists, she is passionate about grooming and mentoring leaders and teachers. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

  • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
  • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
  • Defining your career goals
  • Creating a plan for job searching
  • Improving networking strategies and skills
  • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
  • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
  • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

  • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
  • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
  • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
  • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
  • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
  • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
  • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
