FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I learn about what they are looking to get out of the lessons through a phone call or an in person consultation, and if I think they will benefit from taking lessons from me, we schedule a lesson time. This time is usually very flexible for me, but can be consistent if that is part of the customer's needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a pretty modern approach to teaching music lessons, so that won't likely change too much in the near future, but as for continuing education, I can say this: Even after you learn music theory, it is important to practice your ear training. Learning to hear things in music and then being able to play them is an incredibly useful skill that will save you a lot time and make you a better player.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I enjoy teaching and have been playing music for so long that it just made sense. I started by teaching friends and band mates back in high school, before I knew anything about thumbtack, and it's something I love so I just want to continue doing it.
