"I have worked with quite a few movers throughout my life, and I have to say, Granat Labor is BY FAR the best. Derek and his crew work hard AND they work fast to get the job done and keep the cost down. My move could not have gone better thanks to Derek (the owner). Derek came to my home to give me a realistic estimate regarding how many hours my move would take. Derek keeps it simple - he gives you 1 hourly rate that includes everything (unlike most other moving companies that make it so complicated and expensive by inflating the price by having separate fees for the truck, the guys, the fuel, etc.) AND Derek will also give you a realistic time estimate so their are no surprises on moving day. The day of my move Derek and his crew were on time, worked fast, and were careful with our boxes and furniture. I even had a piece of furniture that after they brought it into our house, we decided we wanted to get rid of, and Derek moved it back out, no problem. Also, we had furniture we wanted to get rid of and hauled away from both our old house and our new house. Derek charged us a very reasonable fee to get rid of it for us. He made a special trip back the next day to haul it away from both houses. Talk about an easy stress free move. I would not consider any other moving company other than Granat Labor. What an outstanding experience during a time in most peoples' lives that is very stressful. Derek takes the stress and complexity out of moving. I highly recommend this company!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
