Introduction: I’ve held various positions within the roofing industry going on the 9th season. I am best at and most enjoy the actual construction work. This year I bring my knowledge and skills to the general public as a solo endeavor on Thumbtack. Specializing in tile and slate roof restorations and custom copper works, my aim is nothing but complete customer satisfaction. I work with multiple material vendors to provide the best available matching option for your existing roof covering. As a hobby, under the watchful supervision of rescue house cat Vexx, I also design and build custom copper furnishings for the benefit of friends and family. I would be delighted to assemble any furniture you need a hand with as well.

Perun Roofing - A Master Craftsman as in Old World - Like you just can’t get anymore… until now. The Best of The Best. Slavi is a perfectionist who gets great satisfaction out of a job well done. The lime stone cap on my chimney was eroding at the joint. It had been patched by someone else a couple of times and the problem persisted. Previous work done by others include the Ludowici terra cotta roof being torn off and completely reroofed, decorative chimney pots added and flue liner replaced. I noticed Slavi’s work on a landmark house in Riverside, IL a block away from my house and was impressed. I asked him to look at my job. He inspected it, found the root cause, explained the work and priced it. Because of the persisting problem, I wanted in addition a copper sheet added on top after it was fixed to be double triple sure. He said it wasn’t necessary. The root cause was a past workman broke 3 feet of terra cotta flue and removed it without replacing it. So condensation was trapped and swirling around in this open cavity and escaping through the joint of the limestone chimney cap. WHATTTT!!!! I had a new flue put in supposedly. Previous workers never mentioned it. Slavi saw it, told me and fixed it. I am an interior designer who has inspected many commercial job sites under construction for office space in some of Chicago’s biggest corporations, law offices, etc. I know what I am looking at. I know when a job is well done and when it’s not. I got up on a ladder and inspected the work. The flue was fixed, and the failing grout and morter was removed and flawlessly repaired. The gaping hole in the limestone cap was repaired with a special limestone repair product so well that you could not see where it was repaired. After that I went up one last time before he was paid and guess what, he installed the copper that I had recommended, even though now that the root cause was fixed, it was no longer necessary. He just did it and didn’t charge me for it because he happened to have a piece on his truck from a previous job. That kind of care can make you want to cry because you just cannot find that kind of dedication. So after the job was done and inspected, we were both on the roof. I asked him for his impression of my terra cotta roof project because I had struggled immensely with the leading roofer in Chicago that does slate and tile roofs, who did this job. The guy is doing those big big churches and commercial jobs. I caught many mistakes and hired a consultant to help me get that guy to repair mistakes or plain old very bad work. I thought I was done. So Slavi proceeded to explain all things wrong in the closest 20 feet of roof near us. There is supposed to be more shingles per lineal foot, etc. etc. There are technical building standards a roofer is supposed to follow. Boy do I wish it had been Slavi from Perun Roofing who had done the complete roof. He wants to do it right. In my career, I have worked with all trades in the Chicago building community, always hiring those with the best reputations. Slavi‘s work ethic and technical ability stands out as my best experience - ever. He later put up some gutters for me as well. Great.
